Hope these show up. I haven't posted pics yet and haven't really been on here since the new look.

That close to campus, its a shame it is not being redeveloped for much needed MU facility, e.g., parking structure, new dorm, athletic/recreation use, etc.

The Marshall 10 year plan has all the locations where the majority of the changes and updates will take place.
While I'm not excited about a CVS closing down the street to open his new one, I think Marshall will begin their processes soon.
We have to remember, the man who spearheaded all the development around Marshall in terms of facilities, unfortunately, died.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a delay in progress because of the search for a new president as well as securing financial resources and funds for said updates.
I just hope the new guy is as adamant about making Marshall into something research based including expansion of student enrollment, facilities, and overall footprint in the region.

Wow thats kinda sad

Actually, a pharmacy is something that has not been nearby or convenient for students forever. This is a great deal for Marshall to have a pharmacy across the street from campus, and improves location of CVS to Fifth and 20th instead of Eighth and 20th.

Wow.

Hard to believe Stationer's / Bookstore is gone.

I can still remember when they tore Boney's Hole in The Wall down....I used to have a brick from it but it got lost through The Ages....

Marshall has really changed; and for the better. Can't wait to see how they have cleaned up the area around Fairfield / Hal Greer etc when I come up there this fall.

..

Why is it difficult to believe? Most of the city needs to tear down their buildings.

And for gods sake move the industrial areas to a more remote place than where they are.

You'll be disappointed.

You'll be disappointed.

I dunno.

ANYTHING would be better than the projects on Hal Greer.

There are some dumpy places right near campus, to be sure, but Marshall isn't the only school to have that problem.

Sounds lke they are running out the Detroit thugs according to what I have read...

The city needs to have a much better approach to its overall aesthetics.

They also need to raise the cost of living in several areas to keep out crackheads who rely heavily upon cheap rent and housing in order to maintain their craphole lifestyles.

Landlords also need to be forced to screen applicants for renting...students, grad students, and recent alumni should be given first picks over the rest...sorry locals, you should've stayed in school...as for the rest? Get the hell out!

Put cheap, low cost housing elsewhere, far, far away from the main areas...people who do drugs and crime, will move there, and the crime is at least concentrated in an isolated area.

Move the steel mill to some place where their piles of rusted metal looking like a frickin' junk heap 100 feet high, isn't so visible and near the river, utterly destroying any nice looking areas/views.
Buy up all the abandoned factory and warehouse land near ACF...there's tons of property and abandoned buildings that need torn down...Marshall could EASILY set up a separate campus there.

The steel mill isn't going anywhere. If they were going to close it and reopening it elsewhere, the elsewhere would be China, not Lincoln County.

As to CVS. Welcome. A modern "drug store" carries not just drugs, but is pretty much a c-store with more reasonable prices than the craphole 7-11 next door, and this one is going to be a liquor store. It will enhance the life of dorm students and those in the off-campus housing in that side of campus. Good move.

I will never forget, or forgive, the craphole 7-11 running corporate's WVU promotions. You would think that someone would have some sense, but no.

Its funny when people think the drugs are only coming from Detroit, there is plenty of dope boys from Atlanta, Columbus, Louisville, Chicago, and St. Louis working in Huntington. The only difference is they know they are only there to make money and not be detected

There is a liquor a block away

So how much would you raise the rent in Huntington? A city that doesn't have an abundance of high paying jobs. I would love to able to pay $500 for a 2 bedroom again. I pay $1300 for an average 1 bedroom apartment that doesn't have all the goodies you would expect if your paying that much for a 1 bedroom. Be thankful for how much rent is in Huntington or anywhere in the South

While Dr. Kopp did an amazing job, many of the ideas in the 10 year plan were part of the master plan that was released before Dr. Kopp stepped foot onto campus.

I was really surprised when news broke on this the other day, I thought the bookstore had made arrangements to stick around for some time.
