It's going to be great knowing our football games will be on either ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or ESPN+
I'm wondering what CBS Sports Network does after Conference USA dissolves. Any chance CBSSN offers a similar 10-game/season deal to be the second-tier network for the Sun Belt? Or is the Sun Belt deal structured that no other network can carry games? Just thinking there could be more opportunities for the SBC to be on linear TV.
As for ESPN+, it'll be good from a consistency standpoint knowing that if we're not on linear TV, that's the streaming platform we'll always be on. Probably most bars/restaurants have ESPN+ by now, and in a few years, perhaps more casual fans will have it as well.
Marshall, meanwhile, is going to have to improve its ESPN+ production. We'll need a more experienced broadcast team in the booth -- preferably Keith Morehouse on play-by-play, a former player as color analyst and Jake as sideline reporter. Jake is a talented young guy, but he doesn't have the necessary experience to regularly do p-by-p at this level yet. He's fine for play-by-play on one ESPN+ football game/year currently and all the other sports. But Jake and a non-former player analyst isn't going to cut it if we're on ESPN+ multiple times a season.
Thoughts?
