Will Dan D'antoni offer him a scholarship? He's undersized, but can fill the stat sheet, and he's right in MU's back yard.

Offers to date include: ETSU, UCF, and UMBC

Here's a snippet from his State Tourney game last night:

Huntington sported five players in double figures with junior point guard Tavian Dunn-Martin leading the way with 22 points on 8-of-12 accuracy from the field on a variety of dazzling shots, including five 3s. He also contributed four rebounds, five assists and three steals.

WVU? No. We have our 2016 guard in Chase Harler, and 2017 PG in Brandon Knapper. WVU will seek out big men to finish the 2016 class. It doesn't make sense to add a PG after signing a great one in Beetle Bolden in 2015.

Dunn-Martin is a bit too small for B12 play, but I think he could thrive in the system that DD tries to run.

He is too small for the Big 12 like Muggsy was too small for the ACC and NBA.
The Big 12 is such a powerhouse conference that the C USA and Sunbelt winners beat them.

a better example than Bogues would have been Charleston, WV's own Josh Cookie Miller, who went to Nebraska for 2 seasons. At 5'7, his body was simply too slight to maintain the wear and tear of the physicality of the league, and he transferred out after multiple injuries.

and this what I get for trying to actually talk sports on a MU board...........

btw, I found my answer. D'Antoni is recruiting the kid. His father is also a MU alum and former player.

How about Levi Cook? He tore his ACL this week, and will need a year of rehab. If MU were to come in and promise him a redshirt year with proper treatment, rehab, and assistance............ I bet Marshall could steal him away from the P5 schools pursuing him. His family wants him close to home.

I've heard he wants to come here and we want him. I simply don't see how he fits the system we have.

Grandma wants him close to Beckley........... West to Huntington. East to VT. Southwest to ETSU.

You sign him and sit him a year...... and work to rebuild his body into a style of player that would fit. He's 300lbs, and with the knee..... it is going to be tough to keep the weight off. But he's a good athlete with a good shooting motion out to about 15 feet, which DD likes. If he could get down to 265-275, he'd be a great get.

If you're going to look at Cookie as an example you should paint the entire story.. Cookie first went to a Prep school in Cincy then to Nebraska.. Where not only did he receive immediate playing time but actually set the Nebraska school record for assist in a season by a Freshman.. Cookie didn't leave Nebraska because of injuries he left because he had a young child with a girl back home so he went down to WV State and played on a talented D2 team.. Then he spent a number of years playing professionally in Europe.. His size had nothing to do with him not staying at Nebraska, it didn't make him leave and it certainly didn't keep him from making impact for the time he was there.

Knapper is 2016. He's barely 145 lbs and will have to fill out quite a bit. Right about 5'10-5'11. He likely needs a year of pure S&C to play anywhere D-1. His skill is plentiful, he's just got to develop his body to succeed anywhere.

Tavian Dunn-Martin has certainly been superior in the clutch the past two years. He is Frank Martin's son. He can certainly fit Marshall's style of play. He will need to fill out, too. He's a shorter (5'8-5'9) version of Knapper. Their skill sets are very similar.

If Marshall can get in on the Frampton's, the sophomore Frampton is the top 2017 player in W.Va...and his teammate Cuffee is second. Luke Frampton will be a 6'5/6'6 2-guard by the time he's done growing.

Regardless of who you root for, it's nice seeing a lot of homegrown kids getting D-I looks. Marshall's men and women have made local recruiting a priority. WVU seems to have as well.

Knapper's commitment to WVU was conditional on a prep year after HS, moving him to 2017. Both sides agreed this was the best course of action, not only for his physical development, but also to disperse the PG depth.

Greenbrier East's Christian Ortiz is the same caliber of point guard. Does anyone know is we offered this young man?

Ortiz, Dunn-Martin, Kidd, and others are just as good if not better players than Knapper. I've seen them all play with and against each other.

Saying someone is too small is ridiculous, if you can play, you can play. Every coach wants a 6'2 PG, but some of the best in college hoops are tiny.

Kendall Anthony at Richmond is 5'8 and averaged 17pts a game this year in the A-10. Tyler Ulis is 5'9. Not sure how tall this kid is, but heart and talent mean a lot more than height.

Dunn-Martin is listed as 5-7
