I just wanted to update my take on this James Spader series. I pretty much slagged it, but we're about 3/4 through season one now, and it has gotten marginally better. So there's hope!

The first episode was good, but while I realize it is a tv show. The premise is pretty out there.

(And I love the Walking Dead)
Oh, I'd pick the Walking Dead 9 times out of 10 over Blacklist. But they do share some of the same things that bug me. Sometimes not-great acting, not-great writing, and totally unbelievable action sequences. I know there has to be suspension of disbelief, but don't make me work so hard to achieve that, ya know?

Much agreed. Unrelated but I am a big fan of the new episode last night of TWD.

I'm only as far along as the Netflix allocation of TWD episodes. Last I saw, the gang was trapped in a boxcar.

To touch more on what bugs me, they have some pretty good actors -- the guy who plays Daryl, the guy who play Glenn, the Brit chick who plays Maggie -- but also some really tough to watch ones. Not a huge fan of the guy who played Merle. HATED the guy who played the governor (and not the way the writers intended). Hated the guy who played his nerdy, fem assistant. SPOILER ALERT!!! That guy's death sequence was particularly tough to watch.

Last night's episode was penned by the same guy who wrote "The Grove" - another Tyrese-centered episode (the one about Lizzie and her sister). Those are two of the best in the series, imho.

Much agreed (no spoilers HRHF).

I absolutely can't make myself watch a zombie movie. Not sure why because I read my class Bram Stoker's Dracula every year. But Twilight and the ilk I just won't give a chance. Maybe it's my loss but I just won't do it.

You are not missing anything by staying away from twilight. You are, however, missing out by not watching twd. Do yourself a favor and watch the pilot. If its not your cup of tea, you've only lost an hour.

I second that.

The Walking Dead started out strong out of the gate. You'll know after one episode whether you want to keep going or not.

I finally got my lady to watch it late last year. She didn't think she'd like it. Never liked zombie movies, just like you GK. She loves this show. It's pretty gripping. Most of the time lol... I'm just a natural critic.

I agree about the Twilight series as well. I watched the first movie when it was new. It was like watching a 90 minute cK commercial.

GK, as a Dracula fan, how do you feel about the different movie adaptations? Do you have a favorite?
