Pence would be better. He at least understands how a president needs to act presidential. Will there be something in this latest ordeal to get trump impeached?

Yep, we'd go from having a loud, stupid president to a quiet, stupid president.
I think he is most concerned with Syria. His boss Putin is watching his response very closely. It’s a lose lose for trump.

I don't have the time to list every reason. I'll just say this: it's pretty hard for a Republican in Indiana to be as disliked as Pence is, but somehow he pulled it off. Of the traditional GOP base, only the Bible Thumpers like him. Business community? Nope. Cops? Hell no. And a lot of this isn't his fault: the previous administration signed the crippling tax cuts that plague Indiana. But he is too dumb to have acknowledged that, even when it wasn't his fault, when doing so would have been his only chance at winning a second term...and that fact alone should give you an idea of how dumb he is.
But being dumb would make him a PERFECT President for this Republican Congress, so he has that going for him. Look/act Presidential, keep signing bills, stay out of the way, and don't do anything super stupid....and really, there's a lot to be said in favor of that kind of POTUS. I don't like Pence one bit, his views on religion and government are abhorrent to me...but with a President Pence I won't ever worry I will wake up to us starting WWIII.
Poor guy. He was once very intelligent and respected but has made a complete fool of himself. He sacrificed all integrity and respect simply because he has a love affair with donald.
Sad.
This doesn't necessarily label him "stupid," but it opens eyes:
Look at any other presidential academic record, then look at Pence's. He went to Hanover College, an average college. He then went to Indiana Law, a solid but not great law school.
Compare the level of those schools with schools other presidents have gone to.

I'll repeat but be more direct: it's easier for a freebe in a whorehouse to be disliked than for a Republican in Indiana to be disliked. And he isn't just disliked, he's flat out not welcome in certain usually conservative places. It takes a big dummy to pull that off. It's like a chef burning water.
You know what the last Indiana Republican besides Pence to shit away his popularity had to do to fvck it up? Say in front of a live audience that getting pregnant from rape is a gift from God...and that dude still lost his race by only six points.
Hanover is a solid college, and back in the day its students had some great weed.
It's average. It has 1000 students, an acceptance rate of 70%, and doesn't even require SAT/ACT scores from applicants. I am sure it isn't a shithole, but it is far, far from the usual presidential undergraduate standards.
