The Portal Is Getting Out Of Control

Welcome to the world of ESPN and playing grab ass with this generation. I will just leave it at that.
There needs to be a specific date, in December, for a player to announce he is going to the portal. That way, if you lose a kicker, for example, you can look to the portal to replace him, or maybe get one out of HS. As it is now, we lose a kicker on Jan. 18, and we might be screwed trying to replace him. As I have said before, the portal sucks, and it's leaving college sports teams not having any idea who will be available next year.
Going to be hard for anybody to do anything. The world is too politically correct now.
This generation, thanks to their weak-ass parents, will be the death of sports.
I repeat....if you're a P5 program, the future for you isn't recruiting from high school. Just cherry pick the best players in the Portal. I've said it all along, the Portal is a horrible thing.
I might be wrong, but I’m thinking they now have some sort of agreement with Huntington High to provide the education portion. Seems like I read something about it a while back.

Find somebody that can make extra points and field goals inside of 35 yards... Surely some local high school had a kid that could do that last season.

Easier said than done. You still have to recruit them to campus and the best will just go from Alabama to Clemson or Oklahoma
IIRC, Huntington Prep went down because the operator didn’t pay St. Joe’s bills for pretending to educate the players for several years. According to the Herald Disgrace he reached a new deal with HHS for the kids to take the online version (C**** deal) of the high school program.
IMHO, all of these “basketball academies” should be banned. The sport was much better when it was just the kids in your town against the kids in the next town.
As to the college transfer portal, most talking heads say that after spring practice will be a yet bigger number of transferees. The whole thing should be eliminated, but since the wont do that, at least it should be a two week window, Jan 1-15 and that is it.

Speaking of recruiting, looks like coach Huff and his staff are really hitting the pavement hard visiting a ton of high school programs. Lots of updates on twitter as to where they have been, I like the energy.

I agree... Limit the time you can be in the portal to an off-season window. You get a couple weeks after the National Championship game (lets say Jan. 10-Jan. 31). Either you find a new spot, or you don't.
