every other QB on the roster is hurt. I'm not blaming everything on him but the numbers he put up or the lack there of should warrant another QB getting their shot especially vs. a 1-AA team.

Beyond pathetic that we rode him out this whole game and let him lose it for us with the d playing out of their minds second half.

Kind of hard to get numbers when all calls to pass are ones where the receivers are already behind the line of scrimmage.

Agree HerdFan76. Say he played badly but we don't need the name calling. I'm sure he feels far worse about his performance than any of us posting about the game including myself.

Birdsong's play was not very good at all, but at some point we have to recognize that they play calling was absolutely horrible..

I mean, we have to try to get down the field at SOME point during the game. Bubble screens weren't the answer back with Snyder and certainly won't be now.

He'll start next weekend, and he will play adequately because of the opponent. Which means that they will start him for at least two more games after that.

I don't ever remember wanting a QB benched for as long as I can remember. For some reason I've just not felt comfortable this year. I would love for him to work out his issues but I don't see why another QB should at least get some PT vs a 1-AA team.

So...

You guys are all about being respectful for someone by refraining from name calling...

But...

Are all about benching the QB because he is "the worst QB some have seen in years"?

Honestly, name calling sounds so much better than being denied a chance to redeem myself for mistakes made.
Good lord some of you really don't think this through, do you?

He will get another chance no doubt.. I am not confident our coaches are brave enough to bench someone when they need it. They did it for cato and it made him a better qb. They should have last game. When you are ice cold you are ice cold and you should give another youngster a shot because after all - Why are we paying their way through school just to sit if they MAY - JUST MAY be able to make a difference.

...and you're willing to risk that...AN ENTIRE YEAR for a few plays to determine if he's better or not?
What if he collapses? Then what? You've burned a redshirt on a QB who should still be on the reserves...and you've got an incumbent QB who hasn't been given a chance to improve...throwing him in there with likely a 21 point deficit somewhere in conference play...it's even worse than taking the field 20 yards behind the sticks.

Alright, alright...

I think we've been spoiled by Cato's successes over his tenure here....and it's easy to forget his bad games and struggles. I understand that. But you can't expect the new QB, whoever it is, to immediately take the reins and keep the stuff moving, for some schools, the rare ones at the top who can afford the best players, it happens, but with us, it takes time.

i LOVE CATO but he had one of the worst performance's ever up at athens. 4 picks and played horrible.I like a 6'6" qb

For those defending Birdsong, how many times did he look past his #1 option on a play? He stared down one receiver and refused to look at any other option the entire game.
