There Probably Won't Be Enough .500 Teams To Fill All The Bowl Games

Way too many games. Exactly why I don't see being "bowl eligible" as some type of grand accomplishment. If you aren't bowl eligible in today's college football, you should be looking for a new coach or have just hired one.

Five wins:
ECU should easily win over Cincinnati.
VPI is a mortal lock over UVa.
Indiana is too over Purdue.
Tulsa will beat Tulane. You could round up some guys hanging around the bus stop in any major city and beat Tulane.
ODU should beat FAU. FAU has had its heart ripped out.
Buffalo should beat UMass. See "Tulane" above.

That is 6.

UK and Loserville is a toss up.
Mizzou and Arkansas is a toss up.
San Jose has a shot with ESPN/Boise State.

Best case scenario is thus 9 more, unless one of the 4-6 teams from a league with no championship wins two. Louisiana might.

Puts more pressure on wvu to win out...no way their academics gets them into a bowl, lol.

3 cupcakes to open the season, 3 conference cupcakes the last 3 weeks with 2 more cupcakes to go. Is there any way they could play UCF in a Cupcake Bowl ???

That would be awesome! lol.

They really should have a lowest bowl for the two worst teams in FBS...give 'em a matchup and possible bowl destination...with no real intention of either team showing up.

Think of it like the Razzie Awards for college football.

Believe if ODU beats FAU they would be 6-6 and bowl eligible. That would give CUSA 6 bowl eligible teams and 7 bowl slots. Read somewhere that the PAC 12 will have more bowl eligible teams than they have designated bowl slots. Believe one other conference is in the same boat and maybe 1 or 2 more conferences won't have enough eligible teams to fill all of their bowl slots, just like CUSA.

With all the bowls out there these days, who among you didn't see this coming?

Our local sports radio personality calls this the Suck Bowl. He's been proposing for years to have 2 winless teams meet in a bowl so that at least one of them ends the season on a high note.

Personally think we have too many bowls. However I don't want to go back to the days when the MAC had 1 bowl invite. The 1998 Herd got the invite while a 10-1 Miami sat home.I also remember the 2003 Herd went 8-4, beat the Big 12 Champs and sat home. If they would shave about 4-5 bowls off the calendar it would be about right IMO.

4-5? more like 14 or 15...

back then there were 18 bowls. there are 41 now. i completely agree about our days in the MAC and not being enough bowls. 30 would be just about perfect.
