Toledo

I saw them play against Michigan a week or so back. They have a pretty decent team, led mostly by their guards. They didn't have the depth to keep up with Michigan (nor the size), but they're not bad. Herd should beat them, but they're certainly no pushover. Definitely in the top half of the MAC schools. Marreon Jackson is really talented, so he'll probably get his points.

We just can’t beat Toledo.
Poor defensive effort for a good part of the game and offense was out of rhythm

Where is Darius George? Toledo's Senior (PG) outplayed our Senior (PG). I'm not worried though. Still early and at least its not Conference play yet. Still yet, gotta have that one at home. Especially in overtime.

Injured during the game. Not a lot of specific info was given, so far, but that was, apparently, why he never returned.

With West having a bad night (5-18), why on earth, with game tied and 20 seconds left call a timeout and draw up an iso with West? I was screaming at my iPad to give the ball to Tavion, clear it out and let him drive to the basket, jump over everyone and shoot a 4 foot shot at the buzzer. Seems so easy. West has struggled his entire career finishes layups in traffic.

Am I the only one that thought that was a complete coaching blunder?

I was listening to the game and started screaming “Get Tavion the ball!” on that last possession of regulation... you weren’t alone

jmac - Absolutely! With so many options, DD blew that one badly. The father of Danalytics, who praises the corner 3 as the 2nd highest % shot behind the uncontested layup, chooses the contested layup as the go to? Kinsey should have the ball in his hands in that last shot situation.

I agree when it comes to the outcome of the play. I listened instead of watched, so I’m not able to comment on the structure of the play. But as soon as I heard West drove it for a layup with about 5 seconds left, I assumed the play was supposed to go somewhere else and Toledo shut it down. Leaving West with a drive to the basket too early in the clock as the final option.

The set out of the timeout was 4 corners with I think Jannson at the foul line. Taevion came from the corner to the top of the key coming off a screen. I think the plan was to get Taevion the ball there, opening him up for a shot or a pick and roll. Toledo played the initial screen well however and by design, Jared, as a second option, had an isolation with his defender with a cleared out side of the court. In theory the play design made sense.

Dantoni said the effort was lacking and it showed. Mentally they looked out of it. Lots of turnovers, some of wh

West just had an awful night. It happens.
