If any of you want to go to some really cool places for really cheap, I highly urge you to check out what you can do on Wow Air.

I flew them a couple of weeks ago to Iceland and Brussels. I am about to book some more trips with them because of how cheap they are and how impressed I was with their planes.

They only fly out of Detroit, DC, Boston, and NY. But you can usually drive or find roundtrip flights to those places for $100. Just looking at where to go to next, I can fly to Iceland (one of my two favorite spots I have ever been), spend as much time as I want (or don't) want there, and then fly to Berlin for as many days as I want. Fly back to Iceland. Then, on that same day, leave Iceland back to the U.S. Total cost? $319. That's $319 for a flight to Iceland with as long as you want there, a flight to Berlin for as many days as you want, a flight back to Iceland, and then a flight back to the U.S. for $319.

You can do the same to Paris via Iceland for $375. It's almost impossible to find a roundtrip flight to Paris for $375, but with Wow you can get a roundtrip flight to Iceland, then a roundtrip to Paris for a total of $375. They don't fly everywhere year round, but if you want to explore some cool European cities for cheap, I highly recommend flying them.

I’m flying on Spirit in April to San Juan to hook up with a cruise. I’ve never flown a discount carrier other than Allegiant once. I’m a little nervous about the experience, but the ticket price was half of what I could get everywhere else. Hopefully it isn’t a high altitude greyhound bus.

I'm an airline whore for the most part. Whatever gives me the best fare, I'll fly, but I do have two exceptions.

I try hard to avoid Spirit and Frontier regardless of how cheap they are. I haven't flown Spirit in years, but Frontier's seats are rock hard and they don't recline. I have no problem with the discount carriers charging for everything. But Frontier's seats are so hard, almost at 90 degrees, and they don't recline.

I was blown away by Wow. The planes were very modern, the flight attendants looked like the old Pan-Am girls, and the seats were big and reclined. They nickel-and-dime you for everything. If you take anything more than a personal item, they hit you a pretty big baggage fee. I thought they would be very strict on it, but they weren't at all. I took a decent sized backpack which allowed me to fit two pairs of pants, four tops, two pairs of shoes, a bathing suit, and some workout/sleep clothes to go along with the outfit I was wearing. Since I was flying to Iceland, I knew everyone would be dressed warmly, so I had a bulky cardigan and winter jacket on. Under the cardigan, I had a satchel where I put my ipad, headphones, gum/candy, etc. Then, around my waist in reverse (so covered by my jacket), I had a waist pack which had my toiletries (which had I thought about, I didn't need since my hotels would have provided a toothbrush/floss/toothpaste/deodorant. I thought I may have needed the hotel to do my laundry, but I ended up having more than enough. But I quickly realized Wow didn't care what you had with you. They don't look to see if you have one or two bags. My bigger backpack was a bit larger than the size allowance for a personal item, but they didn't even look twice at it. One attendant saw me take the other two bags off of my body and didn't care.

The only downside I experienced with them was that I couldn't use my TSA pre-check with them. Since their airline hasn't been at the U.S. airports for a minimum of five years, they don't have authorization for their passengers to be in the pre-check line.

I have about 750,000 points for hotels and flights (enough for 2-3 lavish vacations), a domestic roundtrip on Southwest, a domestic roundtrip on Delta, a one way on either United or American, a roundtrip on Southwest, and at least two nights at properties up to 35,000 points in the Ritz Carlton/Marriott network, but I'm a fool and never use them. Within the next three weeks, I am supposed to have the Southwest companion pass hit my rewards account with them, which I will whore out to the easiest whores. As you can see, my allegiances aren't to any one brand, though I do try to do Ritz Carlton properties just because of the perks they give me.

If you want to do two really cool places in Europe for $350 total, I highly recommend Wow.

I don't skimp on airlines. F that. Allegient is buying used parts from Ducky's on the West End and tires from Po Boy's. Even the good airlines are having to get bailed out and skimp. I don't want any shortcuts and Allegient is flying that MD80 series jet. You have to do maintenance on that SOB and they are out of circulation now for the most part. And, you better hope the pilots check doesn't bounce.

Have you flown Norwegian? I've heard good things about that low cost international line.

You sound like an unreasonable and illogical non-traveler.

You realize how much air travel is regulated, right?

I don't believe I have.

You probably didn't know that Allegient retired the last of the MD80's last November. I think the average age of their fleet is 13 years which is pretty good.

I don't trust airlines that charge $53 for a flight.

I am probably am unreasonable. I know it is regulated. But, I don't trust airlines like allegiant. I will go with other airlines first.

One more thing, for most airlines, the most experience pilots are on the bigger planes. You have to work your way up. So, when you fly on the smaller planes you are getting a less experienced person.

There is plenty of info out there about Allegiant.

I'm sure they are happy to charge you more than that after they sell the 3 or 4 seats that they are selling for $53. Do you trust Southwest?
Yes, absolutely. By 100 fold over Allegiant. Not even close. Frankly, I will not get on an Allegiant plane. Better pilots, better maintenance, more experience, and they are experts on the 737. That's like asking if I trust GM or Ford over Yugo. And going to Urgent Care for an operation.

I fly:

Southwest
American
Delta
have flown United

Other than I am going to really look at it.

Even pilots don't recommend Allegiant. I am with the pilots union on this one.

Check out Norwegian. They fly to Europe from LAX, New York, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Oakland/SF. Often one way coach for under $200.

Wow has one way flights from DC to Iceland for $45. From there, you can fly one way to a bunch of European cities (Paris, Brussels, Berlin, Barcelona, etc.) for prices ranging from an $49-$79. Looking at the Norwegian prices, they don't come close to what Wow is doing.

I looked up WOW. Business Insider has them rated as the worst airline in the world.

Sometimes being a simple hayseed like myself is a good thing. I don't need to go to Iceland. I have been to Dolly Sods WV in February.

I thought you always used WV Sports message board for your travel arrangements. You know, Vernon's Travel Agency, the one that uses a message board as a front for his agency.

I am more of a drive to middle of nowhere with an air mattress in the back of the SUV type.

I have flown those with Delta. With Delta I don't mind as much.
American had a big fleet of them. I think biggest in the world.

Jesus, nothing you say is ever accurate.

First, Business Insider doesn’t have them as the worst airline. Business Insider ran a STORY about a company called Airhelp which ranked airlines. Business Insider has absolutely nothing to do with the rankings.

What is Airhelp? It is a company which specializes in flight compensation. What does that mean? They charge foolish travelers like you for the ability to threaten airlines which have late, delayed, or canceled flights in order for the passenger to get compensated. They primarily work with European airlines since Europe has far stricter rules than the U.S., which makes it easier for travelers to get reimbursed for late, delayed, or cancelled flights.

So clearly, Airhelp is going to be jaded towards airlines they fight with every day for compensation for their customers.

What did this “ranking” consider? Only three things: 1) Claim processing: In other words, at least 33% of their ranking is based on how easy and fast an airline will compensate you for a flight being late. 2) Quality of service: Wow charges you $3 for a cup of coffeee, $3 for water, $12 for a meal, and up to $70 for checking a bag just one way. Other airlines give free coffee and water, free meals on transatlantic flights, and a free checked bag on international flights. Of course, WOW will get horrible numbers in this category. That’s why they have such absurdly low fares. 3) On time performance: if you’re traveling to Europe on a 6-8 hour flight, do you really care if it arrives an hour late?

I’ve flown four legs of Wow. Every plane was very new and modern on the inside. The seat room was as good or better than any U.S. carrier (non-first class). The room was far better than other discount airlines I have flown (Frontier, Allegiant, Spirit). The seats recline and are far more comfortable unlike other discount carriers. The overhead space actually fits carry on sized bags unlike many top U.S. airlines.

If you’re a whiney bitch and need free coffee, don’t want you be charged for a bag, and want a television screen on your seat, pay $600 roundtrip to Europe. I use my iPad, have free, unlimited meals at just about every airport lounge in the country, and don’t need coffee or a free bag. I can get by on 4-5 outfits for a week, a couple of workout outfits, a few pairs of shoes, and be perfect flying to Europe roundtrip for $225.

https://www.businessinsider.com/worst-airlines-in-the-world-in-2018-ranked-airhelp-score-2018-6

1. Wow Air – 5.04/10. The Icelandic carrier came in at the very bottom of AirHelp's ranking, at 72nd. It scored 75% for on-time performance but just 1.68 points for claims processing, and a 6 for quality of service.

Split hairs, it looks like they are a shitty airline. All airlines are shitty. They are the biggest turd in the toilet.

What is more pathetic is that you wrote a dissertation over a freakin' airline. Get back to posting about sluts.

No, my dissertation is on you not knowing what you read and presenting false information on here.

hahaaaa, wooohhoooo

somebody should say herdman was right. you want to start Yags?

You weren't right about anything. What you tried saying with your link and what happened are entirely different. Hell, you didn't even know what your link said, you claimed it was from one reputable ranking when in reality it was from some random website . . .

rifle, hope you didn't have any WOW flights lined up. Ceased all operations as of this morning. I have a friend that had to rebook with American to get home from Ireland in a few days.

That sucks. I didn't have anything booked with them, but I planned on using them for Dublin in April or May and Tel Aviv when their flights started going there in June.

The quality of planes, ease of open-jaws, and prices were all great for going to Europe. Norwegian is also a good budget airline that is having the same money issues.

I've flown both Allegiant and Spirit. The only problem I had was with Spirit coming back from Ft. Lauderdale to Charleston. They lost my bag. I think I returned on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I didn't get my bag back until the following Wednesday or Thursday. One of their employees actually met me at Sheetz at the mall to give me my bag. It had been handled pretty roughly. No apologies from the company, no compensation of any form, etc.

Hey guys, just like cheap airlines, I know some Doctors who work cheap. I want cheap airlines and doctors. No worries there.

Solid advice Rifle.m thanks to you I'm stranded in Iceland with a worthless return ticket. Thanks a lot.

I can give you plenty of things to do if you're stranded over there. That place is immensely better than whatever podunk town of WV you live in.

Where have you been for the previous ten posts in this thread before yours?

So what's your point?

That your wife would have gone back to banging you, at least temporarily, had you taken advantage of that great opportunity instead of fishing at the local pond with the bearded women.
