Trump and Sessions have requested the resignations of 46 US Attorney Generals

They get the oldest feeblest ones and put them on MSNBC to whine about how awful this all is. Then after the show, they go home and eat a jar of caviar and tell their butler to feed the poodle.

U.S. Attorneys change with every administration. No news here. Every new president owes a favor to some political hack lawyer in every state. Sad thing is, more often than not, it opens up a path for some not very qualified persons to end up as Article 3 judges.

It is, but I have never liked it. Experience means a lot in that line of business.

Other than directing the types of cases a district focuses on, the USA does very little beyond being a figurehead in most cases. None carry an actual caseload and very few ever go to court.

46? So, less than half the amount Clinton fired upon taking office. Trump needs to step up his game.

Experience just doesn't matter in the courtroom. That focus is a big part of my thoughts on this. If I were a new POTUS, I would want a review of each USA to see what cases they took on and keep the ones that really took a shine to gun cases and fraud against the government. Felon with a gun? Fvck you, welcome to federal prison. That's what I would want to see.

DOJ used to have a program called Project Safe Neighborhoods that focused on felons with guns and violent crimes. Funding for this initiative ceased under the last administration. It would be nice to see it made a point of emphasis again, but who knows.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 1, 2004 - Congress has eliminated direct financing for a Justice Department program that has been the centerpiece of the Bush administration's efforts to prosecute black-market gun crimes.

The move, which Congressional officials attributed to competing budget priorities, cuts federal grants to local and state law enforcement agencies in investigating and prosecuting crimes committed with guns. It also raises questions about the administration's ability to persuade the Republican-controlled Congress to support its legislative priorities, after Republicans last month blocked an intelligence overhaul backed by the White House.

That article isnt about PSN. In any event repubs are as much to blame for gun crime. Im not anti-gun, but federal firearms law needs revamped. We need stiffer penalties for felons in possession, straw purchasers, etc. The only gun offense that actually carries a "stiff" penalty is carrying, using, or possessing a gun in connection with a drug trafficking offense.

Really? Here's the next sentence in the article..........

The administration had sought $45 million for local grants under the gun prosecution program, Project Safe Neighborhoods.

That article is from 2004 and relates to grants issued to state and local agencies. PSN was more about focusing on investigating and prosecuting gun crimes by federal law enforcement than funding state agencied. I know for a fact that PSN was still receiving funding up until about 2 years into Obama's presidency. I'm not blaming him, I'm just saying the program needs reinstated.
