Trump Likely to Pick a Woman for SCOTUS

Abortion is a tricky subject.

I'm conservative, so my base line is let me live how I want with minimal government interference. I'm personally pro-life, but being conservative I can't tell anyone else how to live, so I'm also pro-choice.

As a conservative, I just want Dems to call out abortion for what it really is, birth control. There are exceptions, but the majority of abortions are for unplanned or unwanted pregnancies. Just be honest, it isn't "womens health", it's fixing a bad decision.

This is basically my position, plus I do not have a uterus so I have no skin in the game.

It's not just a government interference question though. Many people see it as murder of a person.

I'm not saying I personally believe that , I honestly have spent a long time mentally grappling with this issue and don't know what I believe.

At some point, I believe it is essentially birth control. I also believe, at some point, the child has advanced long enough that it's not a "her body, her choice" , kind of question because it's NOT just her body, At some point anyway.

Where is that line ? I don't know. Like many medical ethical questions there's a lot of gray but unfortunately in today's political environment, issues are only allowed to be black and white so to drive the emotional response needed to move the needle and make ignorant people (on both sides) care.

I agree, at some point it is a viable human. We also know over 90% of abortions are in the first trimester (I got that from Fox News, "fake newsers"), and .01% are third trimester (Fox again!). So basically the abortion of viable human beings in statistically non-existent, but that's the image anti-choice activists promote. And while I don't have a source for this, I would think an abortion that late is because something has went terribly wrong. I'm going to bet that is true, because common sense says most women still pregnant in the third semester did not consider/rejected abortion.

And because of that I get pro-choice activists defending that late abortion. There's no justifiable reason in modern medicine to tell a woman, "Hey, your baby is not viable and is as good as dead, but tough shit you are going to carry it until birth". But when there are feeling, and religion, invokced it's all bad optics on both sides.
