The Sun Belt doesn’t work like CUSA, with a set TV schedule announced before the season. Like Rhino says ESPN has until 13 days before a game to decide if it wants to show it, and, for Saturday games, when it will be played. If a matchup is unexpectedly good, then it might get picked up for an actual broadcast channel. All a part of complex interplay with all the other rights ESPN owns.
Here are the details:
Disney (ESPN,ABC) has the rights to every game the SBC plays in every sport.
As to football, at least 15 games must be shown on an actual linear channel (ABC, ESPN, ESPNU, ESPN2, ESPNews). The remaining games vs. I-A opponents will be on ESPN Plus, which is a pay internet service. Games vs. I-AA teams, will be produced at the team’s expense and shown on ESPN3, which is a free internet service. However, ESPN can sublicense games that were to be on ESPN Plus to the NFL Network, up to 2 per week. The championship must be on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2 and on a Saturday.
As to basketball, a handful of games will be on linear ESPN channels, the rest on ESPN Plus. Most games on ESPN Plus are produced at school expense, as are all other sports.
