From second half, apparently no one wearing green, or connected with team (coaches), cared very much down at Boca Raton today. Outscored 19-2 down the stretch. Jacking up hurried wild 3s, no ball movement other than playground one on one drives to lane with 4 other players standing flatfooted, or an ill advised 3. It's obvious we have no other offensive schemes or philosophy. We've gone from 1 extreme to another coaching wise: TH and his wild histrionics running up and down the side line vs. DD who stands arm folded doing a lot of "observing" but obviously not a lot of coaching. Stands emotionless while our playground offensive execution results in wild 3 point shots, with NO apparent changing up based on time and game circumstances. For example, with fairly good lead near end of first half, DD observed Johnson jack up 3 ill advised, hurried 3s- -no effort to run a little clock, etc. Result, score a lot closer than needed at halftime. TV announcers pointed this out several times and said that Coach DD was probably not happy with this, but one could not tell it by his mannerisms or lack of substituting for the player in question.
While FAU obviously made changes and adjustments, we did nothing. They changed up and tried working ball inside more in second half. Result: their freshman center ate Sane's lunch. DD's philosophy of having guys like Sane lose a bunch of weight in the off season has backfired. Sane gets out muscled and knocked in and around the basket like a piece of tissue paper in a windstorm, resulting in a lot of missed easy shots, blown rebounds, etc.
When you have a combination of scant talent plus a coaching staff that does more "observing" than coaching during the game, the result is MU basketball, 2014-15, heading at "ludicrous speed" towards a school record for losses in a single season.
