Appalachian State hosts East Carolina tonight at 7:30PM in Charlotte, North Carolina in Bank of America Stadium. Gives us an opportunity to see both these teams which we play in September. Game on ESPN.
Ever since they fired Ruffin McNeal they have sucked.ECU is a nice cautionary tale of wanting to move up and not being able to handle it.
On the flip side, App State is the ideal way you want to move up and can handle it.
I think its a case of how far they've moved up - they should be one of the better teams in C-USA, but if you dropped them into the current AAC, I'm not sure how long they would be able to maintain their level. (In fairness, I think the same would be said for us - source: our time in C-USA 2005-2012.)On the flip side, App State is the ideal way you want to move up and can handle it.
I don't buy the "they moved up too far". They've just been poorly ran. They are basically in the same conference they were in prior to the first two rounds of realignment. Once they fired Ruffin McNeal it's been a disaster. Then again maybe we killed their program after that complete annihilation we handed them back in 2013.I think its a case of how far they've moved up - they should be one of the better teams in C-USA, but if you dropped them into the current AAC, I'm not sure how long they would be able to maintain their level. I will agree with you though that ECU has absolutely fumbled their way into this state. In terms of resources and support, there's no reason they can't have parity with Cincinnati and UCF and Houston, but from a management standpoint, they make bad decisions. Down in this end of the pond, you can either have stability or be dynamic, and a few schools like ECU and Southern Miss (and now us) have made the decision to be dynamic, to varying results.
…or maybe this was the moment? 😳I don't buy the "they moved up too far". They've just been poorly ran. My bad sir. Carry on...I was talkin' about Appy.
…..I don’t know which was worse - this choke vs UCF or our QB sacking himself, assisting in our choke in Orlando….It was this moment, when a win meant a share of the AAC Conference title. Was fired one year later to the day
Did you see Boise's QB blunder to end last night's game? That may be one of the all-time worst plays ever. The dude was right at the sticks when he threw it up and on top of that he was past the LoS. Almost as bad as Florida's DB throwing that cleat last season giving LSU the ball back.…..I don’t know which was worse - this choke vs UCF or our QB sacking himself, assisting in our choke in Orlando….
To be fair, MU had a moron AD and a moron HC...and had NCAA sanctions against them.I think its a case of how far they've moved up - they should be one of the better teams in C-USA, but if you dropped them into the current AAC, I'm not sure how long they would be able to maintain their level.
