Tyson Bagent is not going to MU or WVU

That's not vitriol. Being honest and forward is not critical or cruel.
The “know your lot in life, kid” line is far more ridiculous than anything Tyson Bagent has done. Seems to me he put his name out there to see what comes his way out of pure curiosity. I don’t blame him. There are some things in life you just want to know.

Vitriol? What in the world are you talking about? Did you read the article?
I did. I know the author of the story and I’m going to razz him on the incorrect Saban reference soon.

I didn’t take it as him giving anyone the middle finger. I took it very much as him having a “I gots to know” moment in life and just seeing where he stands. We’ll see what ends up happening from here. I just don’t see it as anything to get upset about. I don’t really have feelings about it one way or the other.

I trust Huff to have the QB situation be lined out in time for next Fall. I don’t have favorites as to whose last name is on the back of the jersey taking the first snap.

And I appreciate the compliments, btw. We’ll simply chalk this up to agreeing to disagree. I can see how you read it that way, but I did not.

Admittedly off the wall analogy, but I saw this as “I’m happy as can be at my job, but I’m going to apply to the very elite anyway just to see if one bites.”

Basically, he “loves Sheppard and wants to stay at Sheppard”, unless the right amount of money comes along.

Free transfers and NIL has ruined college football in less than a year.

ruined? I think the correct word is simply “changed”

that’s all. Nothing is ruined, and to be honest, very little has changed.

That happens every year. They just get one free transfer now. That’s it. Also keeps football in the news year round now. It’s awesome!

Oh really? How about the fact Charlie Batch can openly offer a cool $1 mill to the starting QB at Oklahoma with no repercussions?

ok. And what is that “ruining?”

Truthfully. What does that ruin.
It ruins the illusion that these kids are playing a game they love, in return they are getting an education
You are( were) supposed to go to a school for the educational opportunities
The school part is what has been ruined, and that’s the shame.

Ok. So the school part is ruined. The college football part is not.
Except for when Texas offers all online men 50k a year, direct recruiting advantage, players openly shop around for more money. I know you have an image to uphold but if you don’t think nil has an impact on football then you need to start underwriting some loans for beach front property in kansas

not sure what you mean by image to uphold. But do you not think this was going on under the table for the past 50 years. It just brings it above the table now. It’s not going to make any changes. All the big schools are going to be battling for the same kids. They will just be offering money this time in some capacity to get them instead of other things.

doesn’t change anything. We are still on the same level. Getting the same types of players.

Basically 2 transfers. One for undergrad, and one as a grad transfer. If the NCAA wants to balance the field, eliminate the redshirt year. Everyone is on the clock once they step foot on campus.

No we aren’t on the same level because some guy that owns a car dealership in myrtle beach can pay players more than the john Tudor can pay in Huntington. And your image is the same as the orchestra on the titanic or chip diller from animal house

There has to be a reasonable limit to what a college player can be payed. College athletics in turning into the pro development league, and I hate pro sports.

Tax all nil income and deduct cost of tuition from what that make. You get 50k and your tuition is 25k then you don’t get a scholarship you owe school 25 grand and that other 25 gets taxed

I am sure it will be taxed. But deduct from tuition? What purpose does that serve.

When schools are losing 30 kids a year, yes things have changed.

first off. Yes. They have changed. They just aren’t “ruined”

secondly. How many have lost 30. Schools that lose 30. Are losing 30 for a reason.

one of the kids we just “lost” landed at West Georgia. So. Did we really “lose” someone.

The kid gets to play on a level now that he should have been on. And we get to replace him, maybe, with a kid that is suppose to be able to play on this level

No one got hurt.

It’s obvious our resident supafan sees nothing wrong with kids coming and going, fans actually building relationships with athletes. That’s the issue. Fan apathy will only grow when they have no clue who’s playing year to year

This 1000x... Part of what makes college football great is seeing these kids develop. Watching them grow and improve and help the team.

Now, the good ones will leave for greener pastures, anyone mildly disgruntled will leave for the sake of leaving, and those buried on the depth chart will leave to find a place where they have a better chance of getting on the field... Can't blame the kids for that, but it sucks for the fans.

This stuff hurts schools like Marshall the most. We don't have companies that care enough to pay a Herd player an NIL. The better players, or the ones who think they are; will leave. It's gonna be tougher to get a high 3 star guy since we can't pay them. etc.

Where does it stop?
