Just read that, aside from their win over Houston, UConn's other 5 wins were against programs with a combined 7-38 record against FBS opponents. They had wins over Villanova, Army, UCF, ECU, and Tulane. They're tied for 96th in the country in passing yards/game and sit at 115th in the country for rushing yards/game. They have a top 20 defense, though, so with our strength this season being defense, I think this turns out well for us. Couple this with the fact that we should have just as many, if not a little more, fans at this bowl game than the Boca Raton Bowl last year, and everything on paper reads like we should dominate this game.

Separately, does anyone know where the primary UConn football message boards are? Seems their Rivals page is rarely posted on.

Red go to "the-boneyard.com" and click on UConn football. Not much there either though. Football not as big as Huskie men and women's basketball.

I say it will be a low scoring game. We'll have to find a way to get the passing game going and not turn the ball over. They don't score many points.

I like the matchup on paper but any team good enough to beat Houston is good enough to beat this Marshall team.

I think this is a good match up for us. Go Herd and go get win #10!

Wonder if Houston turned the ball over a lot or the weather was just bad? Be interesting to hear details of that game.

If the Herd team that showed up for 11/14 shows up then we will win. If the team from WKU shows then it will be close.

UConn didn't play Auburn this year. Are you thinking of Missouri? Because Missouri was poop this year.
When UConn played them MO was ranked and the score was as stated, 9-6. Mizzou was vastly overrated, but still last year's SEC East Champ.g which I think was in the high 40.

Houston turned the ball over 4 times, 2 fum, 2 int. Houston QB got hurt near the end of the game. His sub was 1/4 1 int. They both had around 320 yards offense. Houston was held way off avg yards which I think were about 470.

So andy, if it is common sense, how in the world do the totally unbiased vegas boys have us favored?

he said, "I like the matchup on paper but any team good enough to beat Houston is good enough to beat this Marshall team."

you said, "Is that a guarantee?"

i said, "sounds like common sense..."

you arrive to conclusions better than common core math............

I agree, that this is a good matchup for Marshall, but also recognize that anything can happen on the day of.

Typically, Doc and the boys have the crew prepared for bowl games, usually pulling some carefully planned tricks out of their sleeve when they where they see weaknesses.

While obviously the game has to be played for us to know the truth about both us and UCONN, due to our history with bowl games, I'm confident in our ability in going out there and getting a win.

UConn used a trick pass on the score that beat Houston.

It doesn't matter what Missouri did last year or what they were ranked in week 3. They were awful this year. They beat Southeast Missouri State, Arkansas State, UConn, South Carolina, and BYU. The BYU win was easily their best win, and based on the rest of their season, one of those random fluke losses that happen sometimes in college football.

My primary point in all of this is just that the Houston win could've been UConn finding some positive things out about their team. Maybe. It could've just been one of those random fluke Saturdays, too. On paper, there's no reason to think Marshall won't win this game. I'd say we have a higher than average chance to win this game.

UConn has a solid defense and an atrocious offense. Our defense isn't quite statistically good as UConn's, but our offense sure as hell is. We just need to make sure we don't turn the ball over and make this one of those random fluke losses for ourselves.

They were playing with their backup QB who is not nearly as good and is not the running threat their starter is.

I would assume UConn is bigger but possibly slower than we are. Their O line is huge. Knowing that, I fully expect them to try to run the ball and then throw to their huge TE and isolate him on one of our smaller backers.
Their offense isn't good but their defense is one of the better ones we will face this year. This game is on our offense to produce points and win the game. Legg, Litton and crew need to get it done!
