Ukraine "Stealing Like There's No Tomorrow"

Was reading a recent Time Magazine article on Ukraine. Not sure if this was supposed to be a support piece but there's plenty of damning information in it.

Amid all the pressure to root out corruption, I assumed, perhaps naively, that officials in Ukraine would think twice before taking a bribe or pocketing state funds. But when I made this point to a top presidential adviser in early October, he asked me to turn off my audio recorder so he could speak more freely. “Simon, you’re mistaken,” he says. “People are stealing like there’s no tomorrow.”
Even the firing of the Defense Minister did not make officials “feel any fear,” he adds, because the purge took too long to materialize. The President was warned in February that corruption had grown rife inside the ministry, but he dithered for more than six months, giving his allies multiple chances to deal with the problems quietly or explain them away. By the time he acted ahead of his U.S. visit, “it was too late,” says another senior presidential adviser. Ukraine’s Western allies were already aware of the scandal by then. Soldiers at the front had begun making off-color jokes about “Reznikov’s eggs,” a new metaphor for corruption. “The reputational damage was done,” says the adviser.

Maybe we should send more money
$5 that argument gets made. Now that Ukraine knows the money is in danger, that's one of the reasons they're saying the higher-ups are being more brazen about the theft. Can't steal it once it stops coming in.

Well, we have a corrupt country $75 billion dollars. That’s an amount equal to almost half of their annual GDP.

What would our politicians do if someone sent us $12 trillion dollars?

So Zelenskyy clearly knew just how concerning the corruption was but basically ignored it. What's worse, Western allies knew about it well beforehand, knew he wasn't doing much to address it, & still went along with funding.

Are you saying that in the middle of a war where russia is invading ukraine that if you were a ukraine citizen you would be quite concerned about corruption. If you say yes, you're a liar, because you're not concerned with corruption of the orange jesus and his family when the U.S. is not at war.

You spelled Biden family wrong

Also from Time:

Despite the recent setbacks on the battlefield, he (Zelenskyy) does not intend to give up fighting or to sue for any kind of peace. On the contrary, his belief in Ukraine’s ultimate victory over Russia has hardened into a form that worries some of his advisers. It is immovable, verging on the messianic. “He deludes himself,” one of his closest aides tells me in frustration. “We’re out of options. We’re not winning. But try telling him that.”

Here's the peace deal: Get out of my country, go back to Russia, don't come back, and we can have peace.

Military personnel like you are part of the problem. trumptard oath breaker.
Yeah we love our country but hate our politics. It's freeloading cowards such as yourself that is the problem.

I was in an airport lounge at the Denver airport yesterday. An annoyingly loud talker sat at a table next to me. He struck up a conversation with a couple on the other side of him. Both the guys next to me and his new pal are former military.

I listened to how they would frequently defraud all types of companies out of money/services faking military deployment.

One of them said “I used to get in every lounge in this airport because I would just whip up a deployment letter on my laptop and show it to them when I went to the lounge.” He’s now a software salesman. The other guy does private air training but boasted about his own unethical and illegal tactics to steal from companies regardless if he was serving or retired from the military.

Great people we enlist.

Yehh like someone in the military can fake a deployment and get paid by companies.

Oh, another lifelong WV educated person who struggles with reading comprehension.

Tier Three may be able to help.

The guy said he would create a fake deployment letter on his computer. He'd then show that letter to the airport lounges, which presumably have a policy to allow military who are traveling due to deployment to access their lounges.

Reading is hard.

I am calling bullshit on that

The guys say they’re trading stories about things they did to get freebies when they were serving. The software salesman had a female coworker with him.

Were they lying? Possibly, but that doesn’t reflect well on them either. The lounge stories sounded legitimate based on them comparing lounges at different airports.

I can see how you would think the veterans who love their country but hates the politics are the problem, the democratic party is one of your religions.

Your kind supports communism you are the problem.
