USA...USA...USA...

Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy put on a heck of a show for about 12 of the 18 holes; Mickelson and Garcia for just about all 18 holes. A credit to Davis Love and Hazeltine for setting up the course that allowed us to watch a clinic on how to play golf under pressure. The amount of putts made from beyond 15 feet was extraordinary on both sides.

Folks will look at the score (17-11) and consider this a blow-out. That would be a mistake - the difference between 17-11 and 14-14 was a shot or hole here and there.

What a show.

Can we do it again next weekend?

That's the only thing I hate about Ryder Cup Olen...having to wait two years. That was some amazing golf from both sides.

Glad the USA got it done. Also, glad to see pro athletes emotional winning one for the red, white, and blue. And, hats off to Bubba Watson. He didn't get picked and could have complained being a top ranked player in the world. But, he just wanted to be a part of the team and they made him a Vice Captain. I saw him in tears afterwards. It meant that much to him.

Well, you know who is getting ready to play in a couple of weeks.

Justin Rose in the post-match presser called today's pin placements "soft". Curiously odd statement.

What does that mean? Both teams had to play the same course. By soft did he mean accessible and hence a birdie fest?

Who cares. Same pin locations for everybody.

^^^ Yeah I commented on that early in the afternoon that today was going to be more of a putting contest than usual. That was the advantage the home side gets to set up the course as the captain wishes. When it mostly is a putting contest Justin Rose is at a distinct disadvantage as his strength is tee to green.

I interpreted Rose's comment in the same way - accessible and set-up for scoring.

To piggy-back on GD's comment (though I'm not necessarily sure GD will agree), I think the Euro game is built around getting the ball in the hole and securing par; I think the US game is built on the aerial attack of pins, esp. accessible pins. Since most of the greens in the US (esp. on tour) are pristine, I think the US generally has an advantage with accessible pin placements. I say "generally" because it seems the Euros have figured out how to putt in the Ryder Cup in the last two decades and I think that has been one of the biggest differences in the overall results (Euro putting better than the US).

DL3 would have been a fool to set-up the course not to take advantage of the way the US players (typically) putt.

Course set-up has been one of my biggest gripes (course selections foremost) when it comes time for the US to host the Ryder Cup every two years. Playing at US Open venues (1995 - Oak Hill; 1999 - The Country Club; 2004 - Oakland Hills) was rather dumb to begin with, and then setting up those courses to play akin to a US Open (less rough and slightly wider fairways) was ALWAYS playing into the strong suits of the Euro teams, who were straighter and shorter off the tee at the time.

The fact that the US got close with a good set-up in 2012 and finally nailed it this go-around is a credit to these guys telling the PTB to cram the "fifth major set-up" mentality up their collective rectums.

All of this "USA" banter is extremely offensive and xenophobic. Golf is an elitist white man's game and proves that black lives don't matter. Fvck Tiger Woods. He is an Uncle Tom.
(Wanted to beat Fever to the punch)

"I don't like Fever derailing threads with his crap, so I'm going to derail a thread by pointing that out."

Derailing a thread that hadn't been posted on in over 12 hours? Lol interesting take.

Could have posted this yesterday but Decided to wait so that some tight ass like Random would get upset.

Sergio ties Phil and you would have thought he won the Masters. Kissing his putter and fist pumping. WTF?

Tiger's black?
Woods is indeed a rich mix of racial and ethnic heritage. His father, Earl, was of African-American, Chinese and Native American descent. His mother, Kultida, is of Thai, Chinese and Dutch descent. "Cablinasian" was a composite of Caucasian, black, Indian and Asian.

I believe that classifies as Heinz 57. He calls himself cablinasian.
