Holy shit! Those guys are morons.
they gotta be high af. seriously, there's zero emotion out of them. they go around a down electric line like nothing an i'm waiting for the lines to get caught up in their wheels. no emotion. shit flying everywhere. no emotion. one says something, the other, "mmmmm-hmmm". they have got to be stoned out of their minds.

Guys - they cut the power before the storm makes landfall.
so, BFD. did they also tie everything down, make sure shit wouldn't fall over, blow around etc.? hell, they're safe, no reason to worry . . . obviously, they wasn't. lol!

my friend thinks they'd be a blast to party with.

Not saying that isn't/shouldn't be true, but I was watching someone else's stream (from the link provided by Raoul) who is right in the mix too and he drove around a fallen power line, then into a parking lot, and the place of business had a light visibly on, which I thought was crazy how the power was still on. I know it's all about what grid you're on too though. I remember from the storms we had in OH back in I think 2012 or 2013 (I know it was right around 4th of July) and my power went out, but my neighbors across the street had power the entire time.

Likely using a generator.

Not at all. The guy driving is a met and this is not even his first rodeo. He was in Puerto Rico for Maria. He's been in many hurricanes. He freelances his coverage and videos.

There is a spot near an intersection there that is 20+ ft above sea level. Earlier someone mentioned it on Facebook as the highest spot around Mexico Beach and there was a discussion lol. I think he was trying to find it. I'm not going to say that is a great idea, but I can understand trying to get the ultimate money shot, this is his business.

Generator. No where on the grid is surviving that level of sustained winds.

I am thinking about heading down there in a couple of months, and see what is gone.

Many times the power companies do not cut power. They let mother nature take its course and cut it for them.

Second, those guys are nuts. Screw that and they got lucky they didn't drive into surge.

Local utility companies are instructing Beaufort County residents to turn off their water but not their electricity in the event of an evacuation ahead of Hurricane Irma.

Pamela Flasch, communications manager Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority, said the reason they’re telling residents to turn off water is to avoid “water backing up into their house.”

The Water & Sewer Authority has also provided a video on their Facebook page telling residents how to go about turning off their water supply.

As for electricity, Tray Hunter, spokesperson for Palmetto Electric, said that they’re advising residents to “let mother nature turn it off for us.”

Thanks Raoul. To make matters worse they likely lost their places of employment, too. Granted, it was just part time but they did it to supplement their retirement income.
