Hasn't worked out for OSU in football...

Yearly records before Pickens' first major athletic donation:

0-10, 4-6, 3-8, 3-7, 4-8, 5-6, 8-4, 5-6, 5-6, 3-8, 4-7, 8-5, 9-4, 7-5, 4-7.

Yearly records after Pickens' major athletic donations:

7-6, 7-6, 9-4, 9-4, 11-2, 12-1, 8-5, 10-3, 7-6, 10-3, 10-3, 10-3, 7-6, 8-5, 8-3.

In the 15 years before the major gifts started, OSU had four winning seasons.
In the 15 years since the first major gift, OSU has had 15 winning seasons.

In the 15 years before the major gifts started, OSU finished in the AP top 25 once.
In the 15 years after the major gifts started, OSU has finished in the AP top 25 eight times.

The money clearly has worked out for OSU in football.

According to MU's fanbase...not enough. One conference title under their current HC.
Since 1982 when his first donation was given they've won it exactly that, one time in 2011 I believe.

Is he still the single largest AD donor ever or has Phil Knight surpassed him?

Nice gift. Too bad it had to be wasted on Western Michigan.
$50 million of it is actually going to the AD.
Still a substantial amount for any G5, but obviously the lesser of 3 areas.

Some $300 million is going to the Medical School and $200 million going to various scholarships and faculty related areas, etc.
Good for them.

Oklahoma State is competing against programs that have as much or more advantages than they have. For all of T Boone's money, it still doesn't put OSU on the same level as Oklahoma, Texas, and possibly Baylor when it comes to everything.

You're making absolutely no sense. His 1982 donation was $1 million. That, even then, wasn't enough to move the barometer on competing with the biggest programs. Oh, and one more thing: that $1 million was to pay for 25% of building a geology building. It had absolutely nothing to do with athletics. So claiming that his donation to help build a geology building should have resulted in more football wins is absurdly stupid.

Other than the $1 million to help build a geology building, he donated a total of $100K to the rest of the university for the next 20+ years. In other words, arguing that OSU should have seen football championships from 1982 - 2005 due to his geology donation is, again, absurdly stupid.

Pretty clear from the above info in various posts that T. Boone Pickens' contributions have helped Oklahoma State in Athletics and in other areas. Clearly the additional $$$$ from his contributions, as well as other sources (such as OSU's annual share of the Big 12's lucrative TV/media deal(s)) has obviously improved the Cowboys' football program and its success. However, it has NOT resulted in a rash of football titles. Similar to Marshall in that having the Indoor Practice Facility, no doubt a good thing, has not brought MU multiple football crowns in the "mighty" and football potent, CUSA!! Other factors, variables, e.g, the Kayo era, the Tan Man, even Doc, all figure into the MU equation!!

Screw the Broncos. I've lived 15 minutes from their stadium for the last 23 years, and have only watched them play once, and Chad Pennington taught them a lesson that particular day.

2025 is when we play them again and I plan on hosting a kickass weekend party at my house for whoever wants to attend. No handle names required. Just show up and drink some beers and enjoy the Michigan lifestyle.
