Toyota said that it changed its plan to make Corollas at a plant in Guanajuato, Mexico, now under construction, and instead will produce Tacoma pickups there.

President Donald Trump had criticized Toyota for taking auto production and jobs to Mexico. With the investment, both automakers can hope to prove their good American corporate citizenship and appease the Trump administration's concerns about jobs moving overseas.

Well that's a relief considering the 4200 full time job eliminations that State Farm just announced this week and 3100 full time positions that lowes recently announced. That's right 7,300 jobs announced in just two fortune 100 companies.

Oh and don't forget the 5000 that Microsoft announce July 6. Wow that's 12,300.

This is like Raleigh math.

Let me know if you need to borrow a calculator.
was thinking the same thing about you. tell me, which is greater, the number of new jobs gained or the number that's been lost? leave to a crybaby lib to cry about 12,300 jobs lost over 200,000+ gained. LOL!

Thank Mazda. You left out a huge part of the story, at least to a car guy like me. Mazda has been interested in a return to USA manufacturing since they ended their partnership with Ford, but their mostly small car lineup made that economically not feasible. However, with the market change towards CUV popularity, and their increased price/profit, it became sort of feasible. Sort of, because Mazda doesn't have much market share. Mazda has invested heavily in great CUV product, for the US market of course, but still they don't sell enough to go it alone with a US plant. The joint venture with Toyota gives the plant enough production to make sense. Toyota can make more trucks with another Mexican plant, because trucks are still popular and the Tacoma/Hilux is truly a global product, and shift Corolla production to a smaller plant (because it is shared with Mazda) as small sedan sales fall.

As a Mazda fan it makes me happy. They are the only company that cares to make every product they sell actually fun to drive. If they get more market share, especially in the profitable CUV market, they stay in business.

thank you prez obama and dems.
every time donnie two scoops praises the
economy he is in effect praising prez obama
and dems for the fabulous recovery.

besides donnie two scoops called the numbers
awful just last fall and promised 6% growth.

Toyota, which previously announced it will invest $10 billion to build vehicles in the United States, said Friday that trucks will be made in Guadalajara, and Corollas in the United States.
#caught in another lie.

LOOKS TO ME LIKE DONNIE TWO SCOOPS IS TRYING TO
TAKE CREDIT FOR PREZ OBAMA/DEMS JOBS.

FACT IS DONNIE TWO SCOOPS LOST THE TRUCK
JOBS.

Not to change the subject but Toyota F's up big time not introducing the Hilux in America. I've driven them all over the world and we have them here for training (or just for the hell of it really). I've had 3 Tacoma's in a row and would be the first in line to buy a Hilux.
