Well, he plays TE. We've got Yurachek & Byrd who we don't use already. Why waste a year for him to play special teams?
He also ran the ball in HS. We need all the help we can get. I say play him. This redshirt crap gets old when we can use the kid NOW!
We are 1-4 and the season is essentially a bust, so why waste him now?
Kids transfer, grades, girlfriends, family problems, not to mention Doc. Our team needs help at many positions. I think he could help.
I think he's similar to Devon Johnson and can play RB/TE/LB very effectively.
Question is, will it take two years to find his spot like it did with Devon?
Anyone who thinks a freshman TE is going to save this team, by himself, is high.
Get them experience and get comfortable.Prep for 2017. He can run the ball as well, not just play TE. Hell, how many 5TH YEAR senior starters do we have now? 1 or 2? How many 5th year guys ever started for us? I bet not many due to our high attrition.
He can always redshirt another year if needed.
