way to early but where would u put marshall starting next season in football. With no Qb really returning is the only significant loss we have. With a strong running game good oline and solid defense id put us around 40th. Espn losing cato prob will have us around 70th lol

i am quite eager to see some new packages for our run game. I wonder if our coaches can change from throwing deep alot to being a power run game. Will be fun to see if the coaches can coach to the strength of the team.

I want to see where we are at the QB situation after spring practice.

However, if we can beat Purdue in the opener, I'm pretty confident we then can be 6-0 heading into the game at FAU.

We lost by 1 to them and they lost 5 games last year

People are acting like we had some large senior class with no depth. We return the best offensive player in the conference and one of the conferences best defense and a coaching staff that has stayed intact. Plus we dominated everyone last year except WKU, UAB, and LT and we don't even play 2 of them this year

During the bowl game we ran a few jet sweeps and quick screens. I have to think we will be using some jet sweeps in the future.

To be honest I doubt if we will be ranked. Maybe get a few votes. They'll see that we lost Cato and think we'll sink again. Just the national media perception. I think we'll be fine. As somone posted before, if we beat Purdue and start 5-0 or so, we'll be ranked by week 6-7. jmo.
Personally, I think we'll be ranked pre-season around 35th. jmho.

agree with the perception that since we lost Cato our team will sink but i think in reality we will be better next year than we were this year. our qb will be exceptional whomever it is. Birdsong already has D1 experience and has a rocket arm with unbelievably talented group of receivers... if Birdsong does not win the job then it means the starter is exceptional... beating Purdue will give us a big bump early which is key to getting ranked

Beating Purdue will be an eye-opener. Just because they're Big 10. If we do, we'll start to get votes. Most people think we've lost everybody -- which is far from the case.

Ah yes, nothing is going to open people's eyes more than a win over a team that went 3-9 last year (1-7 in the B1G), and lost to the likes of Northwestern and Central Michigan. Saying it would is just wishful thinking.

Sadly it will open more eyes than beating a MAC team, no matter how good they are. Perception is reality. If we beat a terrible Big 10 team it's the same if not better than beating a good MAC team

we start outside of the poll. I for one do not think Purdue is a lock. However, I think we are the better team and should win.

I think we may be getting votes but that may not happen until people see what happens with our QB situation. Legg will most likely want to run a little more trying to get our QB comfortable and limiting mistakes. I think we are a top 40 team going into the season and potentially a very good team with a shot at the access bowl.

All I'll say is that teams projected to have a league's best defense coupled with a league's best rushing attack are usually installed a preseason favorites.

I think we will see the QB throwing a lot more short stuff than Cato threw the past two years. More like Cato's second year. I believe we got too far away from that type of passing attack last year.

Considering the amount of BS excuses in arguing...

The Big 10 is the conference with the national champion.

We beat a team from that conference then we are good (according to the logic used by the CFP).

I think we should be top 25 going in...probably #24 or #25.

Nobody should care until 6 weeks into the season about CFP rankings so all we can go on is AP.
Boise limped their way with lots of luck, to get to the Access Bowl and beat an alright Arizona team.

I think Marshall has the best shot at the access bowl...given the bragging rights of the Big Ten (ANY school in that conference is going to be believing they're better than they actually are, including Purdue) and the idiot media is going to buy into the hype.

Wow some really good points and comments from everyone. Loved the ones from Marine and Fever, it will be interesting to see who is right. Will we be favored in the east over the only person to even beat us WKU or will they revieve the nod because their strong finish and returning QB. I think somehow we blow them out next year as a revenge game you know our team has that game circled next year. I will say I don't know if their QB is really that good or just had a good game against us but I am intimidated. Its been a long time since I saw a QB make throws over and over in the first half like he did, I felt helpless as a fan.

I believe that the Herd should be ranked somewhere in the early 30's to start the year. I definitely don't think we should be in the top 25 to start out, but I'm pretty confident in what we've got going into next season. It'll be us and WKU for the East, which I'm hopeful we can prevail. Again, this is all early, but I like our chances.

F you Boise bitches. if you guys think you are so damn good, then call up your AD and tell him to call our AD and schedule a game for this year. We were better than you guys in 2014, and we will be better than you guys in 2015 and beyond.
