Will Doc go to Arkansas with #85 Dad?? We will see....

No, but Yurachek was supposedly stopped from hiring Kiffin last year at UH, so maybe, just maybe...

So, what you’re saying is Doc needs Yurachek to hire Kiffin at Arkansas so Kiffin doesn’t rule CUSA for the next few years, got it.

Well, Gus is off the table and I doubt Yurachek has a head coach ready to go and approved, unless...
No, I think the motive for him would have nothing to do with Doc. Now if he needs Coach Legg in some capacity, that is a different story.

Please! Please!!!

Raleigh, that summarizes most of my football experiences over the last couple of years for my teams. Expect the worst, hope for the best, celebrate the surprises.

So where does Lane end up? Yurachek got the benefit of an already fired coach so he can, hire whoever he wants.
Does Lane end up back in the SEC or elsewhere?

Arkansas would be a great place for him. He doesn't have the pressure to win right away if he's consistent he can have a job for life because they are basically irrelevant. If he does well there are bigger jobs he can take

Le'ts see Arkansas is going to hire a coach who has a .588 wining percentage in CUSA after they just fired a coach who came from Wisconsin who didn't do a good job.

OK.

But, there is always hope they will. Stranger things have happened. That dream gets us out of a mediocre coach and would unleash Marshall from those absurd contract extensions that Mike Hamrick tied down the school with.

This is the funniest and one of the dumbest threads ever I have seen on Herd Nation. Wish I had started this one. Who in the wide world of sports would want Doc (and his ole buddy Bill Legg)?

There is a zero percent chance Lane Kiffin is on FAU's sideline in Huntington next year. Conference championship, undefeated in conference play, a ton of big jobs open at the end of the season...I don't see how he could think 2018 would put him in a better position.

FAU staying home for their bowl game is a pretty good sign too - this will have been a fun year for their program, a great memory for all 14 of their fans, but it's a one-and-done situation.

He doesn't even need to go very far. USF or UCF could call as well. Sumlin is out of UCF's radar so that job is wide open.
I think he will end up in the AAC for now.

The SEC have made some pretty strange hires of coaches with questionable credentials before...

True, but they don't mess around in that league with coaches either. It would be the State Road hiring system like it is at Marshall now. Arkansas fired a coach on the field one time and the last coach got canned in the locker room.

UCF just hired Josh Huepel as HC and Randy Shannon as the DC LOL!!!!!!

The decline of UCF will begin especially if Shannon is leading the charge in Recruiting. Tons of Randy specials will be heading to UCF.

While all this is true, you’re forgetting the one fact that’s not on here. He shit on UT, was fired on the Tarmac at USC, and was a drama queen at BAMA. It may take him a few years to get that stench off him

He's been covered pretty positively in the press, and let's be honest - memories in college football are notoriously short (unless you're Greg Schiano).

All true, but before you go and drop 5 million on Kiffin you should test the waters with some coaches who bring less baggage, that’s all I’m saying.

"memories in college football are notoriously short"

Huh? Why don't you ask: Dan Hawkins, Rick Neuheisel, Bob Davie, and Pat Hill about that?

Considering how UT has acted in the last few weeks and his response to their coaching search, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some real bad politics in the AD and UT boosters that he just didn't like.

USC, well, that's confusing...he didn't do too bad as he was being hired right after Pete the Cheat got out of Southern Cal.
He had to coach a team with sanctions put on them that many actually questioned. Went 8-5, 10-2, and then 7-6. He then got fired, basically at the airport barely into the season.
I imagine there was a ton of static in that AD as well.

Drama queen at Bama or just overstepping his bounds with the head hauncho himself, Nick Saban? I imagine anyone of Kiffin's mentality would have problems with Saban...it's like Darth Vader fighting the Emperor.
I also don't think Kiffin really felt he was an OC and believed he was a HC the entire time. Maybe he was acting too dramatic? Maybe not. But when you're coaching under Saban, you're on a short leash.

One thing being discussed today on the radio was what Yurachek did with Houston and how aggressive of an AD he is. He raised something like $80 million to renovate their facilities as well as propped them way the hell up on the pecking order for inclusion into the Big 12 when they spoke about expanding.
He also had a great coach in Herman who got Houston back on the map.

Now...both are gone...and Houston is nowhere near the Big 12 as they were when either were there.

They were talking about how bad they felt for Houston and just how, still, big of a gap the P5 and G5 is. A lower tier P5 is still going to outspend a higher end G5 school, and that the money is just on another level.
This is the AAC by the way, supposedly the best of the G5, and they are still light years behind the P5.

Be interesting to see what Kiffin does at FAU next if he remains. I believe they had a pretty large number of seniors although their good running back was a sophomore. Depends on their recruiting I guess, including if he can secure some grad transfers from the SEC, etc., for 2018.

Chad Morris to Arkansas per footballscoop.com

Interesting Morris did not play college football, joining the group of Paul Johnson [Ga Tech], David Cutcllffe [Duke], and Mike Leach [Washington]. Majored in Math at Texas A & M with a minor in Statistics. Departs SMU to join the Razorbacks. Known for developing EXPLOSIVE OFFENSIVE FOOTBALL. We can all dream & wish for some of "that" under our Christmas trees.

Did you see how much money was allocated for the coaching staff not including the HC money? It is $2.5M, which is about twice what we are paying our staff and Heupel will be getting more than double what Doc gets.

So a high paying staff means success now?

Why would Doc deserve a pay raise? If we paid him more money would he be any better?
