WKU game

Plain old ass-whuppin' by a very good WKU team....DD said..."We did not work the guys hard this week with the flu bug & injuries....but, we will get back at it Monday." I Googled the Hilltoppers games---they have played a difficult schedule---losing on the road to Nova, Wisconsin and Belmont in close games.

DD & The Guys will right the ship in Charlotte next Thursday.....

Pathetic. WKU always seems to own us.

WRONG Herdon2
....Marshall had defeated the Toppers 4-straight going into this contest according to Coach Dan after the contest. A good wake-up call....You need to Google WKU schedule to date....the Toppers have played well against some strong teams.

I’m sorry you’re old and senile and obsessed with me. But get a life and stick with your Big Ten lousiness
He’s not obsessed with you! “WRONG!” “Get of Danny’s a** or off get off the train!” “Idk what I’m saying but that’s okay because no one cares!”

I actually think Dreh and Yag are the same person. Either that or it’s possible there are TWO senior citizens suffering from senility that have the exact same loony toon opinions

Did anybody see this coming?

Umm, yes. And those of us who did have spent better part of three weeks getting savaged for it in the general basketball thread. Just for pointing out reality. This team ran up a mediocre (not good, just mediocre) record against a schedule so light it could reach orbit without rocket fuel. There was never anything to it. There are a plenty more just like this one coming, as there are several team in CUSA that have actual Div I talent due to a recruiting plan that does not involve trying to play-pretend that WV can produce almost a whole team's worth of talent every generation, a coaching method that is a little better that "work harder", and a season plan based on more than "get hot in the conference tournament and who knows".

If you want to know what it has been like to follow WVU for the last 40 years, to buy into and ACTUALLY BELIEVE pure idiocy, only to have the cold douche of reality applied as it becomes evident that, no, actually you are not what the local media and your fellow delusional fans circle jerk yourselves into thinking, you know it now.

It is clearly time to move forward. Learn a little bit about basketball and be able to know the difference between accomplishment and schedule padding. There was NEVER a reason for optimism.

You learn a few Herdisms on this board. "Danalytics" and a "schedule so light it can reach orbit without rocket fuel."

Reality is that WKU is a very good team and we lost our only legitimate big man four minutes into the game. Their two bigs were good to begin with, but take Penava out of the game and I think only the ignorant would be surprised by the outcome. We have no depth in the post... duh, anyone not realizing that is among the deaf, dumb, and blind kids that play a mean pinball. I agree with those who are posting about next year - you add Iran Bennett to Levi Cook to the front line to team with Penava and now we have a legit D-1 front court to go with Elmore, Burks & company in the back court. In Danny's tenure, we havent really had a complete roster - always seemed under-manned by a player or two or just a bit too young... next year there are no excuses.

At the same time, this team plays REALLY hard and shows no quit. Penava is a welcomed surprise and basically a one-man wrecking crew in the middle. We need to home that our trainers are related to Mr. Miyagi and can do some of that Japanese voodoo stuff to his ankle. Without him on the court, we are REALLY going to struggle with 4 of our next 6 games on the road.

Lastly, for the nitwits that think that paying for Old Fairfield access is the litmus test for being a Herd fan - feel free to go down to the local Starbucks and get yourself a double expresso... paying to read what other people that follow The Herd have to say makes you a "true fan"? C'mon man... fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life!

Giddy?

Hardly. You think those of us that understand the very low level to which MU basketball, once our premier sport, has fallen, actually WANT this?

No. We want the Herd back where it belongs. We just understand the sport. We understand that:

- You cannot recruit mostly just locals in this small area.
- "Work harder" to the extent that it works at all, works in HS. Everybody in Div I college should be working as hard as they can.
- Getting all worked up about wins over programs making an even more nominal effort than ours is delusion.

We do not want this. We understand that this is what we have. The first step towards getting better is understanding we are on the wrong path. Again.

Boys, we got our ass whipped tonight. No other way to describe it.

Stansbury has went out and bought himself a real fine team. Let's hope he gets caught again before they make about a five-year run.

We have no upper body strength. Even if Peneva hadn't went down, I doubt if it would have made a difference. Even their guards were much quicker than ours.

Rumor has it that Justin Johnson, having already graduated, was gonna transfer up here. His daddy was a coal miner for Mark Cline's. I wish to hell he had! He gave a long look over to our bench, after he put two turn-around jumpers in a row in.

Kermit is about to get dethroned. Hopefully, we can finish third or fourth in the league, then make a run in the conference tournament.

Let's hope that our bigs who will become eligible next year are as good as advertised...

Great crowd tonight--best in the league. Welcome back to reality.

There, Redsfan, I've made it easier for you. Please give the money you saved to the Big Green.

More wisdom for you, Redsfan:

I don't think you can put this on Dan. We got off to a poor start -- missed several wide-open layups and couldn't throw it in the ocean from the uncontested outside. The refs, especially the older one, let them beat us to death and called chicken stuff on us; once they got out to a big lead, they tried to even it up so it wouldn't look so bad. Plus WKU will NEVER shoot out their ass like that again. But they are talented. Thankfully, JJ has made his last trip to Huntington. Just wasn't our night.

Hope Peneva is not out too long. Move on. Take a lesson from it and keep building. I hope this will motivate our next-year eligible bigs to work harder. I'd make everyone get in the weight room and show them a film of this game every other day.

Chucking up and making 18 treys, but ignoring both defense and rebounding is all on Danny.

I’ll send the check to the big green when I’m done paying my student loans I had to get to have the privilege to go to Marshall.

As for the “don’t blame Danny” “wisdom” come on man.

Everyone knows you are going to have nights shooting where you don’t have it. And it’s at that time you have to be able to rebound and play defense. Because as the saying goes “defense and rebounding travel” those are culture things. Those are things you can always do.

Fact is, Danny has created a relaxed culture and thumbed his nose at rebounding and defense and it shows. Our only hope is beating bad teams or shooting the lights out. That’s it.

The best teams in the country play defense and play it very well.

redsfan you are correct about the best teams in the country play defense and play it well.

I Used to agree with him about Sam.. but the more I read from some of the senile retards on here, the more I see Sam sees the reality of the situation. Why are we on here listening to 65 year olds who know nothing other than ‘Dan’s current mood’ to help mold their opinions of the state of the program.

Steps to succeed:
1- come to grips with reality
2- make appropriate changes or
2a- stop sugar coating reality if those changes aren’t made
3- Enjoy the growth of the program that’s LONG overdue.
4- stop listening to old bags and their washed up opinions (like Dreh-old_balls random douche)

Looked to me like we were trying to play good defense. In my estimation, the WKU guards were too quick for us. If we had tried to come up outside on them, it would have opened up the paint even more. We did the best we could without Peneva and Darius. But then again, what do I know: For therecord, PullmanFinger, I'm just a senile, actually 68 -- not 65 -- year-old man...

And I don't have any student loans, Redsfan. You can thank me for my service. I worked and used my GI Bill benefits to get through Marshall.

redsfan you are correct about the best teams in the country play defense and play it well.
Had you noticed that we held the previous 3 teams we played to 70 points or less while offensively scoring about our average?
It was obvious that WKU game plan was to drive it home on us. Even with Ajdin in the game. Why else could he have had 5 blocks in 4 minutes. I assume they figured to get him in foul trouble and take total control inside. Unfortunately the ankle injury took him out sooner. Nobody can win a game when they give up 70 points in the paint. Teams had better do it this year because we have plenty of inside depth on the way.
