WKU vs La Tech

The longer I look at it, the more I think LaTech will escape with the victory. To be honest, this will probably be my most anticipated C-USA game ever without featuring Marshall (C-USA 2.0 or 3.0 included)

LT by double digits. WKU is a paper tiger. Their win at the Joan was a combination of Marshall coming out believing their own hype and WKU having a once-in-a-decade half of football. Corey trying to play hurt didn't help any either.

The game being at WKU will be huge on the short week... I said before the season started that CUSA East is vastly better than CUSA West and this week we will see that.

WKU by 7.

I think the three best teams in the entire league are all in the East with Marshall, WKU and MTSU. Throw in FIU looking good last week against Central Florida and FAU having a high-flying offense and to me it is clear which division is better... The East went 6-1 last week with two P5 wins. The West went 2-3 with North Texas not playing.

WKU has a much improved defense to go with that offense this season though. Driskel at QB for LT is a difference maker this season. Holtz always has a hard-nosed defense too. Should be one heck of a game.

At home, WKU has a chance to win by a couple; otherwise LaTech is MUCH more physical and would win.

dont forget our star QB giving them 3 short fields in first half with stupid INTs and hurting the comeback with a late red zone pic that also ultimately ended up as wku TD

Don't forget star QB giving 3 short fields that resulted in 21 first half pts. He also threw late red zone pic hurting comeback that also resulted in wku TD drive. What's that net 31 points if we score FG on drive?

I believe La Tech is the better team, but I believe it would be best for us if WKU wins. Only reason would be it may help our chance to host the championship game if we can take care of business. I think La Tech wins the west pretty easily, and could come down to our last game at WKU for the east. If WKU can give La Tech a loss tmrw night I think that's in our favor in the long run.

I dont think this game is going to be close. La Tech had the #2 defense in CUSA last year and should have a good defense this year. Last year La Tech beat WKU 59-10. It might be closer this year but I still think La Tech wins by double digits

I meant la tech by 14. I watched wku against a horrible vanderbilt team and they had no punch on the offensive side of the bowl. Complete opposite from how they played at the joan. That was a fluke

Is their defense better or is Vandy just horrible on offense? Vandy may get blanked more than once this year.

This is precisely the point. I watched the entire game with Vandy and both teams looked extremely sloppy. However, Vandy's QB made several dumb throws in the redzone - would march down the field and then throw a pick in the endzone - I think that WKU had two would-be TDs thrown in their laps - absolutely NOT the result of good defense, just a really poor throw from a less than stellar QB. I can't emphasize it enough - both teams looked really, really sloppy, but I do not believe WKU's defense is improved.

My $0.02 is that La Tech will win this game because Skip Holtz will find creative ways to get pressure on WKU's QB.

No defense by LA Tech, not impressed my offense other than Dixon. No line push on defense either, bad defensive effort. Corners are very suspect.

I think the WKU D is improved - the 2-3 UAB transfers have helped. Allen is likely lost for the year. Our corners will have to play out of their heads for this game - that worries me. Driskell isn't great by any stretch but not shabby for Tech. Dixon is an excellent runner.
WKU will be tough to beat down there.

Two good offenses with two suspect offensive lines. I thought WKU's defense looked pretty good (or at least a lot better than last year).

I didn't get to finish game as I was doing the old guy falling asleep on the couch thing till wife said it was time for bed.

It looked to me like they (WKU) have an average defense instead of a very bad one, but also looks like LT has fallen off a lot on the defensive side from last year. A very good portion of the pass plays, the db's were no where near the ball and they only time they got pressure was when they blitzed 6-7 guys. I am starting to change my opinion of who might win the west. Now WKU, to me they still have a lot to prove, I believe we are still the better team until they prove me wrong. Nothing I have seen to this point tells me otherwise and I did watch both of their games. Maybe another game or two and we will get the real story on who they really are this year and if LT is really that weak on defense.

I thought WKU looked very good last night, much improved over their Vandy game... Doughty played like the league best QB he is touted to be, and the defense looks better over last year. They'll be a tough out...

I thought both teams looked solid. Way to early to predict outcomes against them for me.
