WOW!

Why should they be? They are rolling and we got plowed by Akron. That said, they overlook us and we can turn the tables but we must play a perfect game and have help from them.

I agree with what you're saying. I'm just saying it's pretty weird to have an ENTIRE press conference with a player and NEVER ONCE bring up your opponent.

Honestly we beat ourselves with Akron. I hope UL does look to Clemson and think the score was all Akron. Good recipe for disaster. I wonder if we get Petty and One back by Sat.

If Marshall had just beat, say, Western Kentucky like a drum and had Middle the next week and was playing Western Carolina the week in between, I would expect the same attitude from us. The only two guys I know that touted the opposition like they were all Alabama were Fat Donnie (I tell ya Hoppy, this is the best 2-7 Navy team I have ever seen) and Lisping Lou (There are a lot of fine athletes playing for Purdue). They were both idiots.

Maybe this is all part of some crazy plan? Doc and Heater decided to go vanilla against Akron so we didn't show our "cards" (no pun intended) to Louisville.

There are a few things working against that.

One is that they know well that losing to Marshall would seriously tarnish the FSU win and end any hopes of a national championship or a Heisman trophy, even if we won every game after that.

Another is that UofL is 0-4 vs Marshall since we hired Howard Schnellenberger and got serious about football.

One of those losses was the 1998 Motor City Bowl. Bobby Petrino was our OC that season, in which we were 12-0 prior to that game.

Anything can happen, but I wouldn't put much confidence in hopes that the Cards might overlook the Herd.

Good luck the rest of the way.

Not saying they will or won't, but we didn't think we'd overlook Akron either.....................whether the coaches or players admit that or not, it probably happened to some extent.

I think rolling someone 62 - 0 in the first game, masked some execution problems, that did not get fully worked out because starters were pulled (rightfully so at halftime). Plus you have young kids who took into account how easy that win was, and then you're favored by close to 3 touchdowns in your next game, and well you have a what the hell just hit us outcome.

We have a QB that can't throw it in the ocean, but wears #1.

We have an O Line that has yet to really open just one hole.

We have baby freshman DBs that are trying their hearts out but aren't ready yet.

We have made no adjustments at half.

We have a team that really really really likes itself a lot, and pride did go before the complete ass whooping Tommy Bowden delivered. But I doubt they improve much, they are still young.

Cards are going to beat us by the greatest margin ever at the Joan Saturday.....but Ill be there.

Bobby Petrino doesn't over look any team. Cards will be ready, they are smelling National Championship , this is a special team. Hungry.

It's my only complaint with Holliday, he doesn't have em ready for the teams we should beat that are fired up to beat us. Happens every year.

The biggest one I can recall was against Rice in the CUSA championship game.

Petrino doesn't, but his teams might. See Nov 15, 2003 Memphis @ Louisville, our last CUSA game before becoming Big East members. I'd say that's exactly what happened that day. We were so ready to leave that league and move up to what we perceived as the big time that we just took a win there for granted. And we got killed.

I doubt that happens this time, and I know the coaches are working on it. You really never know with 19 year olds, but I still think 0-4 works out great in our favor.

Obviously being an idiot is a criteria for membership in the College Football Hall of Fame.

I would not be too concerned about this game genghis. If you are making the trip to Huntington travel safely and enjoy what we hope will be a more competitive game than our effort last week.
