Now, on to the War Room. Remember, what is talked about in the War Room, stays on Old Fairfield.
Marshall will be hosting a number of offered recruits this weekend, which is the last before National Signing Day next week:
The 2022 Commits:
Smyre has been tough to get a read on but our sources have remained steady that he would be a part of the 2022 class. Smyre confirmed as much to us himself and will finally be on campus for his official. Smyre recently picked up an offer from WKU but will be signing with MU next week.
Montgomery has been on campus multiple times this year but will get the red carpet treatment this weekend on his official. Mongtomery also holds offers from Akron and Eastern Michigan.
Jones has been committed to Marshall for nearly seven months and is flying under the radar in terms of importance. With Shelden Evans likely to move on, there's a real chance for a young back to get some carries in 2022. Jones also has offers from Miami (FL), Florida State, FIU, Southern Miss, Syracuse and WVU.
Like Montgomery, Pennington has been on campus multiple times this fall but will be taking his OV this weekend. The Marshall legacy also has offers from Ball State, Akron, EKU and Tennessee-Martin. Cole will be enrolling at Marshall in June 2022.
The "Other" 2022s:
Originally a 2019 recruit, Cutts signed with UCF out of high school over offers from the likes of Auburn, Baylor, Clemson, North Carolina and Virginia Tech. Cutts ran into some trouble at UCF (all charges were eventually dropped) and was dismissed from the program. You can read more about his legal troubles and dismissal from UCF here:
Givens signed with Kansas State back in 2019 over offers from Toledo and Wyoming. Givens failed to secure a qualifying score and ended up at Iowa Western CC, where he now has offers from Marshall, Akron, Arkansas State and Sam Houston State. He's also receiving heavy interest from Memphis.
Hundley signed with UCF last year over offers from schools like Miami, Michigan, Tennessee, LSU and Florida State but entered the transfer portal in late August. He still has four years of eligibility remaining.
Sam was a first team All-Southland pick at McNeese this year after he finished second on the team in tackles this season with 70 total stops. Sam led the Cowboys with seven pass breakups and added an interception. Sam ended his McNeese career with career totals of 179 tackles, 19 passes defended and five interceptions in 33 games played. Sam has two years of eligibility left and has offers from MU, North Texas and La Tech.

Getting kicked off Josh Heupel’s UCF Knights helped turn around Raymond Cutts’ life
Former Jones and UCF player Raymond Cutts has been arrested twice, dismissed from the UCF football team and had to deal with the passing of his grandfather from COVID-19. Surprisingly, the man who kicked him off the UCF team — Josh Heupel — has been one who has helped him the most.
