Great question.
I have no idea.
I do know they are getting pressure with 3 down linemen.
Scrambling def a core competency for MU QB to stay alive.
That would take creativity on the part of the OC. Which appears to be sorely lacking.
We are a bad team in all phases. The defense that probably retained some of Guidry's techniques during the first few games, now looks out of position and lost in the new DC's system. The offense has been a convoluted mess for years.
3 or 4 Appalachian State defenders around the receiver and Fancher goes ahead and throws it for his 3 interception of the game. Huff sticking with him no matter how bad he plays
Throw out the second quarter and it’s anybody’s ball game
Throw out 2nd, 3rd, 4th quarter and we’re in ot baby!!!
That's probably what Huff is in the locker room telling the guys. If it wasnt for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter, we would be right in this ballgame.

Grade the seasons -
2021 - C- First year grace. Returned most of a 7-3 team. No division title, bowl loss, 7-6 final record.
2022 - B . Win over ND like killing the mid term but finishing 5-3 in conference like getting a C on the final.
2023 - D so far, could win out to get to a C, but already guaranteed to have a worse conference record than last year. Regression on offense and defense. Lose out and the VT win is the only bright spot that keeps the F off the sheet.
Overall to date, C-. Those grades plus a lack of underclass talent.

Interesting we play a very bad qb that hasn't practiced.
On a positive note, it appears that our Bowl winning percentage is safe from being tarnished this year.
Im going to give Guidry most of the credit for 2022 and a lot of 2021. Of course Huff did hire him so there is that.
You think maybe Huff made Fancher switch to southpaw thinking it was a good strategy to throw off opposing defenses?

Huff puts a chicken in the pen. Tells Cam: “When you catch that chicken, we’ll be unstoppable!”
Actually, Huff told him when he can hit the chicken 🐔 when it's wide open he can be the starter.
Ask him yourself and I'm sure that OC Trickett will tell you that he uses EVERY play in his one and a quarter page Playbook in EVERY HERD GAME!!!
When the QB is as limited as ours, how big can your call sheet be?
Additionally, the OL limits the options. The BU RB is only adequate.
Having exactly one HR threat limits an OC...and even if there was a game wrecker at WR, who'd get him the ball downfield?
Trickett didn't exactly cover himself in glory calling this game. His 2nd down calls were atrocious.
But the main problem with the 'play calling' is that the tactics & strategy are limited by the personnel.
