we are going to be fortunate if we win this. you would never know we had a chance to win the regular season title tonight
That was OG Andy Taylor with the turnover… absolutely terrible game control over the last 5 minutes.
I love Taylor but he had a horrible game.
8-25, 3 assists and 5 TO.
Overall, too much 1-1 ball in the 2nd half.

For as many points Taylor scores he gives away almost as many with his turnovers and throwing the ball at the basket. The whole team took some of the worst shots tonight.
Well that was fun to think about for a day.
*sigh* Too much to hope for. Maybe in another 30+ years we will get another chance.
Its somehow fitting that our regular season is dashed on a pair of terrible plays by Taylor in the final 90 seconds... A lot of nights we get good Andy, and he's fine... But 4-5 times this season we have gotten bad Andy, and tonight it killed us.
Not that anyone was incredible... Kinsey, coming off his best game ever, was lost in the background... Curfman was a liability defensively throughout... Oak and Handlogten got pushed around... Dan got worked by the ODU coach (we scored 57 points after scoring damn near 100 two nights ago against a theoretically better team).
Congrats to Southern Miss, they are beating Texas State by 17 with 9 minutes left and it looks like they are about to cruise to a conference title... We had a wide open path to the finish line and tripped over our own two feet. But hey, we beat a bunch of glorified community colleges and we have a good record! Yay!
Let's go win the league tournament... It's the only way this season matters now.

And that’s probably reason number #3 why we lost. #2 could have been that Cam didn’t touch the ball in the last 5 minutes. #1 falls clearly on the fact that we put tarps over the upper bleachers.
Tarp talk must have really got to them last few days.. should just remove them so it’s a non issue.
Unreal choke job in a huge game for the program. NIT guaranteed bid, first conference regular season championship in 30+ years and our three best players all shit the bed. Can’t wait to play in some third rate postseason tourney. Marshall is amazing at winning all the games except the ones that actually matter. 24-7 means nothing in the sunbelt without a regular season or conference championship.
#3 seed. Looking at the bracket it appears we are headed for a rubber match w/ODU. 6:00 eastern tip.
Taylor, even when we get “good Taylor” is very inefficient with his point production. He averages 20 a game but is taking just under 19 shots a game. Kinsey averages 22 on under 16 shots per game. That’s 1.397 points per shot for Kinsey and 1.069 for Taylor. Curfman is at 1.25. OAK is 1.26. Handlogten is 1.60.
That tells me he is a little selfish and looking to get his more than finding the best opportunity when he has the ball. It also says that he’s not getting to the line enough.
The math is that he costs us about 0.35 points every time he shoots. If he stuck to taking only his best opportunities, we would average about 4 more points per game. On a night like this, where he takes 25 shots, that costs us about 5-6 points.

Well, wouldn't surprise me if somehow ODU folks managed clandestinely to install saran wrap "tarps" on the HERD offensive goal each half of last night's game, given the way we were shooting overall!!! Darn those nefarious and evil Monarchs!!!
Wouldn't bet the farm on that, greengeezer. Heck in 30 years or so, Danny D'Antoni will only be around 105 years old and no doubt will still be Coaching the HERD men's basketball team!! After all he did play here in a previous century and everyone in Huntington just loves him so very, very much!! Winning Titles and Championships? Who cares?? WE'RE HAVING "FUN" in Huntington, folks!!!!!!!
Based on the bracket layout, HERD to be SBC Champs are probably going to have to be ODU, Louisiana and/or ODU/Southern Miss. in 3 consecutive days starting on Saturday!! Unless Coach D. and staff can or will make any defensive changes to try and keep ODU guard Jenkins from scoring at will, we may not make it past Saturday!!
We got the worst draw possible for us... But we deserve it for losing the last game with everything on the line.
ODU in our first game, after they just beat us... The Lafayette if we win that one, and they outplayed us in every facet in our loss to them a few weeks back.
Teams ebb & flow. LLaf lost to USM, then to JMU, whom we just beat pretty easily. They are certainly not world beaters! Coaching staff has 8 days to game plan - Gotta trust they will adjust, and the team will play much better. On a neutral court, I like our chances!
