The highlights:

Offense
  • Our play success rate is a somewhat close second to WKU
  • Our power success on short yardage situations is second only to Rice
  • Due to turnovers and red zone miscues:
    • Our Points Per Play (Explosiveness on the chart) is 2nd worst to Rice
    • Our Predicted Points Added is only 5th best despite having the 2nd best play success rate
    • Our Finishing Drives score is down in 8th position with MTSU first, followed closely by WKU & Charlotte. Southern Miss is last.
  • Our avg. starting position is 3rd best in the conference at an avg. of 69.5 yards to go to goal
Defense
  • Our Predicted Points Allowed is 3rd best in the conference and tops in the East. UTEP is best with UAB 2nd. ODU and UTSA are very close behind us. FIU is the worst.
  • Play Success Rate (the lower score the better) is tied for 7th with UTSA. UAB & UTEP are tied for 1st with (surprise) North Texas 3rd best. WKU is the worst.
  • Our "Havoc" score (plays disrupting the offense with tackles for loss, sacks, pass break-ups, turnovers) is 7th best - I thought we'd be higher given our # of sacks, TFL and our pass efficiency defense being ranked #21 in the country. Surprisingly MTSU and North Texas are 1st ---- on 21% of the plays on defense they force the opposing offense into a disruptive play. As pointed out in the article, LA Tech is worst followed closely by WKU.
