We know it’s a basketball thread because it’s the only time you’ll trash a Marshall sports team.
Marshall basketball just isn’t for you. Are Marshall sports for you at all? Come on Sam.
With only 5 NCAA tournament appearances in its program's history dating back to 1957, MU needs to worry about winning its own conference before it can worry about NCAA tournament wins.
Wish we could own the worst conference in D1 football but we can’t come close to that.
I was curious about Morehead's 6 NCAA tournament wins in seven appearances. The first win was actually against Marshall and that was the first of two times they made it to the Sweet Sixteen. One win was a play-in game in 2009. During this time MU's record against MSU has been 34-37, so it has been a pretty evenly matched series. Just surprised by the NCAA tournament disparity.
As a comparison Marshall has only 1 win in 5 NCAA appearances. Marshall also has 2 wins in 5 NIT appearances while MSU has never played in the NIT. For those of you too young to remember the NIT was virtually the equal of the NCAA until the NCAA expanded to 32 teams in 1975.
