Baseball facility - the West Virginia Water Authority Stadium. Wonder if this facility will actually get built and open in 2024? I hope so.

How about Billy Crystal field…he did play his freshman ball here. He went on to become a successful person and family man! Marshall isn’t always about sports right.
Look at our President who became very successful in other than Sports and loves sports. Success is the Key in life. We should be encouraging success in life achievements even when people do not finish their education at Marshall and achieve success in life.

Do have any inkling about how many millions of $$$$, or how many pennies, overall that Crystal has given MU since he was here for about a year back in the mid to late 60s??

Yeah, but there is always that 25% off Marshall fans who think national recognition is more important than the school itself... ya know- the people who would rather ESPN talk about the movie than our football team

I think they should name it "Your Mom's."

"Hey, man! Watcha' doin' today?" "I'm headed over to Your Mom's to watch the game."

Awesome.

You have to at least name it Jack Cook Field if they go with a corporate sponsor for the stadium

No, he didn't.
Billy had a baseball scholarship to attend Marshall. He came to Huntington his freshman year, but Marshall baseball was suspended that year, thus he never played for The Herd. He left Marshall after his freshman year and returned to New York. And, the rest, they say, is history. Funny guy.

Marshall baseball wasn’t suspended that year. Marshall played a full schedule that year, the year before, the year after, and all of the years surrounding those.

Now, was there a freshman team that may have been suspended? Possibly. But that’s never been confirmed by anyone. Players from the team the following year have no recollection of hearing about a freshman team the previous year.
