By best athlete, are we talking on-field performance, or most athletic ability? I initially thought the latter, until I saw Byron on the list, because he wasn't necessarily a great athlete.
For performance, I'd have: 1) Byron, 2) Bradshaw, 3) Cato.

If the question was best football player...maybe Byron could be a part of the discussion. For best athlete, just off the top of my head, I'd have to go with Vinny Curry or Markel Humphrey for men's sports and Kelly-Anne Billingy for the ladies.
I think you have a winner here. No other athlete in this time frame can match that. Talk about athletic, she was a monster on the floor.
