Even though Signing Day was almost three months ago, Marshall picked up a surprising addition on Saturday to the 2015 class in Georgia Military College safety Corey Neely.
Neely signed his National Letter of Intent to attend the Conference USA program during his visit for Marshall’s annual Green and White spring game.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Neely is originally from South Pointe High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The two-star’s profile shows offers from Marshall, Ball State, Georgia State, James Madison and others.
Neely will graduate next month from GMC. It is unsure how many years of eligibility Neely has left. Neely originally signed with Georgia Southern as a Class of 2012 prospect. He enrolled at GMC in 2013.
His status will be updated as soon as confirmation is reached.
The addition of Neely is certainly interesting considering the number of defensive backs who were already signed in the 2015 class (five). It may say something in how the coaching staff feels about the current depth in the defensive backfield.
HerdNation will have a full article on Neely as quickly as possible.
