Another bright sunshiny day at the Joan as the Herd moves deeper into camp. Spirits were high throughout the session. Doc had on the white hat today. It appears that some of the depth charts are getting a little closer to be set, although there are some battles within the first and second team.

*** On the defensive side of the ball, on the interior Channing Hames and Joey Maddox continue to play very well. Maddox could end up being the biggest surprise of camp. On the back side of the defense, Nazeeh Johnson and Quinton Jordan were with the ones, Chris Jackson and Kereon Merrell were at defensive back, and Marquis Couch and Darius Hodge were manning the spots at DE.

*** Sean Behrens is getting most of the second team reps at right guard and has had a solid camp. This is a great story giving the injuries he has had the past couple of seasons.

*** Corey Gammage, it seems as if I mention him in each report, continues to be targeted by which ever quarterback he is on the field with.

*** One interesting note is one of the second team safeties throughout today's session was true freshman Micah Abraham.

*** Kory Cumberlander and Rodney Croom, lining up together along the defensive line, blew up a few run plays.

*** It seems as if Tavin Richardson, Talik Keaton and Obi Obialo are separating themselves when it comes to the first unit. Artie Henry is splitting reps with Keaton. At one point, mid drill, the receivers went out and three new ones came in with the ones. Those three were Broc Thompson, Stone Scarcelle and Simino Walden.

*** Freshman running back Lawrence Papillon was running with the second unit (please note both Brenden Knox and Tyler King are running with the ones, so I am not saying Papillon is the second team running back). However he got to the corner and a that point put his foot in the ground and got up-field immediately.

*** It was good to see Fermin Silva line up opposite Couch a few times at defensive end.

*** One one very creative play, Isaiah Green hit tight end Devin Miller over the middle on a perfectly thrown pass and catch for a 15 yard touchdown play. Later on, Green put one on a dime to Stone Scarcelle in the corner of the endzone for a touchdown over the arms of Merrell.

*** The best play of practice was a deep ball thrown from Green to Richardson who went up and snagged the ball over the top of Jaylon McClain-Sapp. Great coverage and an even better catch.

*** Kickers fared MUCH better today only missing one kick, that coming from back up Shane Ciucci. Justin Rohrwasser was perfect on the day.

*** Dalton Tucker getting some reps with the ones at left tackle late in practice.

*** Tyler King exploded through the line untouched on more than a handful of plays.

That’s a wrap. Until tomorrow!
