A True American Hero

This community is obviously a very religious place to live. Some people just don't fit into that type of environment. That's why I choose to live in Hickville, as opposed to the projects of Orangeville.

One only needs to ask the question: Would you want a different religion treated the same way the school has treated Christianity in the past?

I would disagree that Freedom of religion also means "from" religion. all of us can be exposed to any belief system almost anywhere and should tolerate it.

That said, we can't have public schools having a school prayer from any religion. I'm shocked that in this day and age it would happen. Student groups from the school should be able to meet on school grounds and have any religious meetings they desire as long as not orchestrated or administered by the school.

Is she not praying because the clasped hands on the wall are black?

I don’t want any religion being treated any way by a public school. Teach religions in an appropriate educational course without showing any preference or bias. It’s that simple.

So, you’re fine with your tax dollars being spent to house a student group who goes around teaching that infidels who don’t believe in Islam should be murdered?

As long as all groups are offered the same access, yes. I am a firm believer in equality of offensiveness. Better to have the rats out in the open anyway.

I was attempting to make a point that Christians wouldn't want a different religion being promoted in the schools.

That’s a slippery slope that should not be started, just like we shouldn’t allow religions (regardless of one or all) access to put monuments in courthouses.

Imagine if every student had their own religion and wanted the same access of space and time in the school. It couldn’t be accommodated. Then what?

Should tax dollars be spent to house discrimination? What’s more important- tax dollars accommodating freedom of religion or tax dollars accommodating discrimination based on sex, race, religion, gender, etc.? In most major religions, you can’t have both, as most major religions discriminate based on those things.

I’m all for freedom of religion and expression . . . but that should not use my tax dollars.

at that point it's really another topic. any group meeting to discuss murdering others would be a problem whether it's islam, Christian or the school chess club.

but glad you brought that up, I guess there is a little Nazi in everyone, even libs.

That’s the point. Where do you draw the line? You’re fine with your tax dollars helping to house groups who actively fight against gays, fight against blacks, etc., but you’ll be damned if they come after those Christians!

can you imagine the number of holy rollers coming out to the next board meeting after an atheist meeting is held at a school in the bible belt that was forced to be allowed only because a christianity club was authorized? wow.

are you just making this up as you go? i'm not fine with any of that.

Can you imagine the shitstorm if a majority-Muslim public school blasted the Adhan over the PA system and then most* of the kids began Salah?

*most on the first day, all on the second day once they realized their necks were on the line
If the Muslims were in that kind of power then we would not longer have a country.

Game, set , match

yes!

it's funny. I guess libs debate everything that way, kind of like abortion....go to the extreme example to make a point (not sure it really is one). abortion they always go to "even in cases of incest and rape" despite the fact that those are immaterial in the abortion statistics. I guess it's a good thing the left has a stupid base...makes it easier to manipulate.

sadly, no, he's not making it up. he's merely toeing the lib line. if you're not with them, you're a racist, misogynist, xenophobe, etc., etc., etc.

These arguments always revolve around tangential issues. The real issue is why is the federal government involved primary education at all either financially or setting standards? This is a state issue and should be handled as such.

I would love to get a print of that painting of Moses on the steps of the Supreme Court that was hanging on the wall of the AG.

i'm just as surprised cons want religion in school as I am libs want it kept out. keep it out. considering how they can't even get history right, the last thing we need is the public education system putting their spin on it.

Rifle knows the bible as well as he can without the holy spirit. Without the holy spirit alot of the new testement would never be understood. Yet some try to explain its meaning. Be like someone trying to explain something in which the directions were wrote in chinese.

At sheldon clark and other schools in ky are now allowing classes on the bible.

My 5th Grade teacher was also a Baptist preacher. He read from the Bible every day before class started and we recited the 23rd Psalm fairly regularly. No one even batted an eye at it.

Would you be fine if a Muslim teacher read the Quran everyday to his? A class that your child was in?

Why? What is the difference?

As a Christian, state promotion of religion bothers the hell out of me. It's pure luck I was born somewhere I could freely be Christian. NO country should promote religion upon man, period.

Depends on what 'State' is doing the promoting and what 'religion' is being promoted. The '60's and the Boomers have done their best to ruin America, hopefully they didn't succeed, I can see promise on the horizon I just hope it isn't to late.
