A vote tomorrow on the healthcare bill.

The republicans in Congress better realize that this country won't tolerate two years of non-action and fighting amongst our own ranks. That's a sure fire way to give democrats back control of the House and Senate.

Pass this and a tax cut, and let's go from there.

GOP can knock out the Dems for years to come with Supreme Cour appointees. I agree need to hit home runs on healthcare and tax bill.

Imagine your future depending on how some old people vote on something that doesn't even matter. Sure would suck.

Health care is another non issue just like guns, gays, abortion, and stem cell research. They're all here to stay no matter what. If people go to the doctor for something, get treated and don't pay, nothing happens.

Paying medical bills is a sucker's game. We've already got universal health care.

When it fails again it will be the final nail in the GOP coffin
Nope they will pass it but it will be nothing but Obamacare 2.0. So far nothing looks different. It will also collapse because there will not be any penalties for health insurance so as Walden always says everyone will just milk the system.

The Democrats are not exactly doing themselves any favours.

That reminds me of how people talking British ruined the ID channel tonight. The 9:00 show is always a new episode of a good killing story. Had to turn it off tonight. I can't sit here and listen to British talking for an hour.

At least the Reds are winning. Even listening to George Grande isn't as terrible as British.

An early read appears to be "preexisting condition" patients will be extracted from the current ACA funding structure and placed within a separate funding pool controlled by the states. This will return the premiums charged to a more traditional insurance marketplace. Ultimately, its a major difference than currently exists under Obummercare.

CMS has already been experimenting with these type of "pools" with pre selected health systems within the medicare program for smaller subsets of medicare patients. I would expect the preexisting condition patient will be "covered" through this type of govt subsidy in the long run.

Just some highlights from this bill below:

Funding Impacts:

§ Increases NIHfunding by $2B (6.2%) totaling of $34.8B, specifically increasing:

‒ Increases for Clinical & Translational Science Awards (total $516M)

‒ Alzheimer research (+$400M)

‒ Cancer Research ($+300M)*

‒ Precision Medicine Initiative (+$120M)

‒ Brain research (+$110M)

‒ Antibiotic resistance research (+$50M)

‒ Increases across all NIH Institutes and Centers overall

*Completed during the 21st Century Cures Act in December 2016, reauthorized in FY17 Omnibus

§ Maintains Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services(CMS) at FY16 funding levels ($4B)

‒ No new funding for the ACA implementation, and maintains the standing limitations of federal funds related to the ACA (same as previous FYs)

§ Increases Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Agency(SAMHSA) to $3.8B

‒ Maintains Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant at $1.8B

‒ Increases Mental Health Block Grant to $563M

§ Increases funding for Rural Health – Telehealth by $1.5M

‒ New funds specific for HHS to determine an AMC as a Center of Excellence for Telehealth Services

Policy Impacts:

§ The Omnibus agreement expects the NIH to focus on awards for emerging investigators and first-time renewals of young investigators with actions to significantly reduce the average age of an NIH-supported investigator

§ The bill continues to block a change in reimbursement policy for breast cancer screening, mammography, and breast cancer prevention. The included provision will ensure these procedures continue to be covered by insurers without a copay.

The iteration of the bill being discussed at that time did not get through the House, so the comments made by those people were correct.

Bahahahahahahaha.
You know damn well the implied assertion of the comments at that time were that this congress wasn't going to touch it. Period.

It's almost impossible to pass anything through the Senate. You could promise the male senators a daily head job from Scarlett Johansson or Megan Fox, and the females a ****-lickin' from David Beckham or Dreh, and they couldn't pass it.

It's just a bunch of old fvckers that have no pulse on the lives of living, breathing rednecks across the country.

Meh...the same predictions of "it will never get through the house to the senate" were celebrated and mocked less than a month ago.

Word from a LOT of Repub's camps is they only voted yes because the Senate is going to write something totally different. One particular idiot from my state got brave and said on the record that it's just a green flag, not a checkered one, the race is actually in the Senate (at least he used language any Hoosier can understand). I don't even get the point of that, talk about not taking your job seriously, wow. I guess because the ACA had a coon's name on it they felt they had to vote yes today.

We got over that a long time ago. Yeah, I was pissed when Obama won. But I got used to it. Just like anything else. Baseball with Jackie Robinson.

Obama sucked because he wasn't black enough. He was weak like a MAC DB trying to make a tackle by sticking out his fingers as the receiver speeds past.

"We have to pass this bill so we can read what's in it".

Indeed. One of the reasons it didn't even get voted on the last time.

Remember when you guys said there were not going to be any votes after the last one failed to come to the floor? Remember when you said "no other plan was actually being worked on" to pass? Then last night...."nothing different in this bill compared to obummercare"??

Do you ever get tired of being completely ass backwards on every prediction?

You guys?

Would you care to link a comment where I said something like that?

No I don't remember. What I do remember is gas and oil always go up in the spring.

So you haven't read any of the numerous news stories about the amendments that were added to make it palatable to certain house members?

Stories in the media (assuming we are still talking about the last attempt that never got voted on)?? You mean the ones which said..."attempts to repeal or replace ACA are dead" or "...earliest chance for House to take up new healthcare legislation again will be next year.."

No I don't remember.

Here let me remind you of just one of your assertions from last night.

So far nothing looks different

nothing but Obamacare 2.0

Evidently this is like you looking at a downward moving stock chart since January and claiming "it's been going up for the last couple of months." Other than the Preexisting conditions funding, increases in research funding and the elimination of a $Trillion in taxes....its exactly the same as Obamacare. lmao.
