On this Military Appreciation Weekend, HerdNation salutes and remembers WV native Airman Ryan Hammond, a 2007 John Marshall High School grad. Hammond was killed Thursday morning in a C-130 accident at Jalalabad, Afghanistan. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Remember my pal and former teammate at Independence High School. Former SEAL Jeff Taylor was killed in operation redwing back in 2005, and is shown during the credits of the movie Lone Survivor. He is a Beckley native.
