Soccer flamed out early; football was a total disappointment. Men’s basketball is rapidly heading down the toilet, and even though I haven’t checked the women’s side, I doubt they have won more than a few games.
We are never good at baseball and golf is laughable. Women’s softball has not been as good as it used to be. Last check, volleyball had four wins.
Are there any Marshall sports left to look forward to this school year? I’m depressed.

Soccer flamed out early;
You cannot win the national championship every year. We remain one of the top programs in the country. Cannot wait for next season.
football was a total disappointment.
As predicted.
Men’s basketball is rapidly heading down the toilet,
Yep. Pretty much going as predicted. The team will finish somewhere between 4th and 8th in the league and roll the dice in what will hopefully be the last CUSA tournament we play in.

They are 4-4, but two of the four wins are over Div II teams. They have one more game before conference play. They aren’t any good.

Nope. Schedule is out, BTW, not much different from previous years. Going to Florida for spring break, play the usual locals in non conference (EKU, Ohio, WVU, Virginia Tech, Morehead State, Ohio State). Pre-season home series is Merrimack (never heard of it). Home CUSA is Rice, Middle, LA Tech, UNCC, and FAU). Won’t make the CUSA tournament.
and golf is laughable.
Yep.
Women’s softball has not been as good as it used to be.
No idea.
Last check, volleyball had four wins.
Finished the season 9-16, failed to make the CUSA tournament.

All we have is the same MBB meme we have been living on for the whole DD era. “One time, from 4th place, we got hot for 8 days, it might happen again.” Really CUSA looks so weak, it isn’t as crazy as it sounds. WKU is probably the class of the league. UAB has a nice record, but hasn’t beat anybody good. Same for LA Tech.

Then we can yap about football. The Amen Chorus will blame the players, and/or the previous administration, and assure you that, unless he is selected to coach the Jaguars, Alabama, or be commander of the Space Force next year, (big programs are always looking for 7-6 first year coaches), we will be just awesome. Someday. The adults will try to have a rational discussion of the needed changes to our football program.

7-6 this season with blown 4th quarter leads against App State, East Carolina, and Louisiana. Should have beaten MTSU and UAB. With the right pieces added and the right mindset, this team could bounce back in a major way next year. Likewise, we could also end up in the same situation. Time will tell.

The needed changes are in place if they are allowed to progress. Emphasis on academics, players with higher football IQ, recruiting a little more size, depth, stressed competition during practice, use of transfer portal, discipline,
different schemes are all immediate changes within the first full year.

Next year you’ll see results of first recruiting class, new portal players, a full off season of knowing what to expect by current players/coaches. The benefit of time and full preparation.

So next year counts? Never have been able to pin you down as to when CH is going to be responsible for what CH does.

As to the first paragraph, which episode of Ted Lasso was that copied from?

Do they end up winning and becoming successful?
Not over yet, but that is hardly the point of the show. Its is about a total incompetent who knows a lot of catch phrases and motivational poster type meaninglessness, and how imbecilic know-nothing fans confuse that kind of empty nothing for coaching.

Really? I just googled and it said something about a team being reinstated to the premier level after being relegated the year before. Sounds a lot like he knows something. Imagine that. Believing and executing on principled leadership and it bares results. Not surprised at all you wouldn't understand that. You're a loser.

You do realize its a comedy, right?
No. I said I've never watched it. Critically acclaimed comedy-drama is what it says. Just reading about it, I see immediately some value in the show. It said something about a team being reinstated to the premier level after being relegated the year before. Believing and executing principled leadership. A concept everyone should look to value. You dont. We get it. You're a loser.

Hey, women's basketball won handily against Oakland, from up in Michigan, out in a Vegas tournament tonight. Now 5-4. Savannah Wheeler from over in the Catlettsburg, KY area had 40+ points, something like 16-20 or 18-22 from the floor. First Herd lady player to have 40+ since 1999. Unfortunately, Herd was supposed to play Akron tomorrow in the same tourney but game scrubbed due to COVID issues (with the Zips). Lady Herd to open conference play New Year's weekend at home versus LA Tech and So. Miss., while men's team on the road against the same foes. Congrats to Coach Kemper's squad and good luck to them in Conference play. Oh, that Akron game is the second cancelled game for the team already this season; we lost a home game versus Wright State, again, IIRC, for the same reason.

I don't really buy the "Huff just needs his guys" argument. Sure in almost every case that is the case, but that's because the new HC brought in a new system. Huff kept Cramsey for the purpose of keeping the system in place. No one, at least offensively, needed to learn anything new.

We may improve next year, but only marginally. Unless we bring in a few more big time transfers that can put us over the top athletically there's only so far that a Tim Cramsey called offense can take us. As of right now Coach Huff is just a different label on the same tired product.

Texas AM just opted out of their bowl game, maybe we can get a waiver from the NCAA and take their place!
