Probably about right. You can make a case for taking the Herd and getting the spread. All you have to do is take 4 shots of whisky! šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

Better take Appy while you can at 7.5 points, because that line will definitely rise.

This is a huge hangover game for the Herd, with a quick turnaround. Maybe the quick turn around is better, but playing there at night? Have to think Appy wins convincingly.
I agree. I don't think we make it much of a game. Better hope we can get re-focused for CUSA play. FAU and UAB should be our only tests. jmo

Just remember - we had their receiver crying like a wittle baby in Huntington last year! Pathetic. They are not world beaters, and we absolutely have as much talent as they do. We'll see which team shows up in Boone....you gotta have faith!
My faith in this team wavered when I saw the dumb coaching decisions down the stretch in the 4th quarter. These dumbs RB pitch counts are some of the most idiotic developments in football over the last decade. When you're RB is in rhythm, feeling it, and moving the ball down the field in chuck plays YOU LEAVE HIM IN THE DARN GAME!

I have heard coaches say they don't care what's going on they go by their game plan. Sometimes you throw that preplanned crap out and go with the flow of the game.

Every reason not to expect a beat down. The 2 common level FCS opponents we played were similar in terms of final score, yes? Both home games. We haven't played in Kidd Brewer in a quarter century. None of the students enrolled there even know who we are are unless they watched the movie when they were young. A lot of the fans that were "into" the rivalry in the 80's to mid 90's have passed away or are so old & decrepit they don't really remember what it was like to hate on each other.........you're just not hitting on much today, Sammy! Maybe push back from the keyboard for a bit. Besides, you don't usually come out of your hole until Tuesday, so there's that. Let's talk again on Friday....

No big thing but App State actually opened as a 5.5 favorite, the betting has pushed it to 7.5.

Three games in, with a 1st year head coach younger than most of this board, coming from two premiere programs, energy, communication, and a renewed confidence in turning things around and you're already considering walking away from that?

Just being a new young HC that gives good sound bytes doesn't equal "renewed confidence."

Who said anything about walking away? I said my faith in this staff is wavering. You love being a white knight keyboard hero superfan don't you. I was cautiously optimistic going into the season, but had questions about this staff as did many others. Over the course of these three games those concerns have shown up and really got exposes against an 0-2 ECU team. He may end up being a good or even really good coach, but he doesn't have the makings of a great coach. Great coaches don't make the mental errors he did. I cannot think of one time during the Pruett era I came away thinking Bob was an idiot. I sure did with Snyder and Doc and Huff was making the kind of mistakes they did.

Hiring Springer as our STC was stupid. It made zero sense. You literally could have taken any other STC from any other team and it would have been a better choice. Literally. The guy was ranked dead last. Not having your team ready for an onside kick was dumb. EVERYONE knew what was coming. EVERYONE. Our special teams unit is horrible. We miss FGs, muff punts, have dumb penalties, and evidently don't know how to handle onside kicks.

Pulling Ali on that drive that resulted in a missed FG was DUMB. It made zero sense other than they were following their rotational pitch counts regardless of game flow. Again. Dumb. Having 5 guys off the ball on their XP try WAS DUMB. ECU wasn't going to go for two. JUST DUMB. Dialing up a backshoulder corner throw to the endzone on 4th and 2 was DUMB. Then he blames Keaton in the post game for not making the play. He said he'll make that play next time though.

Having a 17 point lead at home and surrendering 42 points to a team that struggles to score is DUMB.

Every mistake made against ECU was football 101 mistakes. Mistakes that someone coaching at PSU and Bama (under the GOAT HC) should know better.

Choking away a game and then claiming you just "fell short" and then rail against the media and fans for having legit questions going into the season. DUMB.

You are better than that.

We both beat a I-AA, who cares.

Then we played the SAME TEAM. They won, neutral site. We lost, at home.

No reason not to expect a beat down.

Different day my fren'...different points in the season. You think that App didn't have everything ginned up for ECU like we did for Navy? Think again. Quick turnaround for both squads. We'll see........

No argument here. Add in pour clock management in the 4th quarter and pretty spot on. Hopefully learn and move on.

Minus the 4Q meltdown. We were beating ECU by more than App St was at the point in the game. I'm not sure why everyone is so down. I think Huff is going to "will" the team to victory this Thursday.

Because what you just stated. We were handling them and then the entire staff went Simple Jack.

Fans defeated on a Monday, now thatā€™s a downer

Herd going to redeem themselves this week.

Defense gets a score on an INT early and Offense hits everything all game.

Herd winning this one
You feel me Iā€™m reading this form and Iā€™m like sheesh, this is the same team that ran off 7 straight last year. Hopefully they insert my son back in the starting line up and he can get some one on ones vs the double team. #94

"Tell me you're walking away from the team without telling me you're walking away from the team."

Cautiously optimistic? So that would mean, you'd expect a loss here and there?
I'd presume most of the board predicted 9 wins or so? Nobody seriously thought MU would go undefeated.
So now you're upset MU loses a game?
Before you start with, "I don't care they lose a game, it's how they lose" nah, sorry, an L is still an L.
Pretty much every team has a terrible game.
Everything you listed, has happened to a team at least a few times in their existence, some teams in CUSA seem to have it happening in stretches of years.
Oh and Pruett's entire final season was pretty much full of idiocy, starting with his 4th down call against osu and the complete collapse at Akron to the "IDGAF" bowl game against Cincy.
Compared to just 1 bad game for Huff at MU's HC, he's not in horrible shape.

You wanted a young energetic HC who's more media friendly, you got it.
You wanted someone with experience in regards to winning and high standards, you got it.
You also get the risk of he (which was my initial criticism of the hire) not having been a HC.

I think this win is going to make Coach Huff work even harder and to do better than he has been.
My faith isn't even phased by this because I know he won't accept this as the norm or even a standard level of play and coaching.

19 ranked teams have lost by week 3 so far...clearly many teams have problems and coaching blunders, given Sunday, this happens in all levels of the game.

I'll still go with my 8-4 prediction, and hope for better. I do think App is likely the best team on our schedule, followed by UAB, FAU and ECU. jmho.
Western may be a loss since our secondary couldn't cover the Heritage Assisted Living Flag Football team.
