Someone may be against alcohol due to an issue with themselves having a problem or family member, father, etc. being an abusive alcoholic. Who knows. Not our place to judge. Everyone has their opinion.

If we really believe that our fan base is special; why would we make this major change. Many prefer to not be around alcohol for various reasons and it will keep some from attending and being exposed. It's too easy to stay home and not be frustrated.
If we add MU admin makes the statement up front, drink responsibly , and drunks will be ejected.
Last year at the FIU game I think it was, a guy was drunk and catcalling the FIU team. Marshall security got his sorry arse by the arms and nearly drug him out of the stadium. It was sad but kinda funny at the same time, as the guy pled with the security guys to let him stay. His feet couldn't keep up with the dragging, and the security guy was like right buddy, your out!
I'll be honest, to NOT have to worry about mini bottles is a positive thing for this Marshall fan!
Yes Sam craft beers are a good thing, bud light is water with yellow coloring. Some local Brewer would
Relish the chance to get his beers in front on a larger audience. Again , good for the state.
The behavior at Mountaineer Field has improved immensely since they started selling beer, disallowing re-entry, and policing the gates and stands. I mean it's like night and day different. I know you haven't paid attention, but WVU fans have had nothing but glowing reports from the Big XII fan bases who have visited MPS. You are right; MPS used to be a haven for drunken assholes, but thankfully, those days appear to be over.WKU sells beer, and their stadium was very family-friendly. Didn't see one person out of control when I was there. Same for Texas games I've been to. I didn't go to Akron and Kent, but they both sell beer. Did anybody see anything bad happen there?
Milan Puskar Stadium is just a haven for assholes. This was true long before they sold beer inside the stadium, and I'm sure it's still true now. Families will be just fine in the Joan.

I think other stadiums have observed similar outcomes. I think you will see the same at MU.
There have been numerous reports showing that selling beer inside stadiums actually helps reduce incidents and arrests.
Check this article out (mentions WVU in particular): http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/09/sports/ncaafootball/beer-alcohol-college-football-west-virginia.html?_r=0
And I'm sorry, but if you think The Joan is some sort of refuge from drunks you must sit in a sky box. Just about every game I've attended over the past few years has included some sort of alcohol related incident INSIDE the stadium.
Correct, the fire marshal will never permit a closed policy due to the very limited area under the stands. It's very crowded and inconvenient under those grandstands.
I believe that the alcohol scare is overrated. Many studies show drunkiness decreases because it cuts down on binge drinking. Drinking and no drinking areas could be set up.
iMHO if you build it they will come ! Improve the atmosphere in which fans never want leave. That means investments in stadium and added features.
Hammick has done great bringing back the colors and jumbo screen. Now we need updated food and consession . Family picnic area , TV , bathrooms, concourse. We all saw the grade on stadium review. Love the Joan but might need a facelift like Joan rivers. (Too soon?)
If you build it they will come. Yes to alcohol , money needed for Marshall and next step
I agree abut the food there. If I get hungry at a game, I never do, I could get a hot dog or pretzel. I much prefer to wait a couple hours and go to Rocco's for dinner. As for beer, I don't drink the stuff but is amuses me that all of a sudden people on here blast Bud, Coors etc and feel they must have craft beer. Tell me what you drank, and enjoyed up until the past few years? I'll bet that it was Bud, Coors etc.IMHO,
- Contrasting the way WVU fans act to MU fans, or to any other group of normal people, is apples to oranges. MU fans, and fans of most any other program you can name, are ordinary people, 99% of which can handle alcohol in a responsible way. WVU fans are made up of the lowest elements of WV society, drunken empty-lived hilljacks who have never been anywhere or done anything (going somewhere and doing something inoculates you against the idiocy you have to believe to buy into the WVU sports act) and drunken c-student New Jersites and a minority of WVian students who actually want to be around such people. MU fans will handle beer sales just fine. Different people.
- Leaving for halftime and tailgating is a part of it at MU. Doing a "lock in" might be a long term goal, but it is going to cause issues.
- There is a term for people that only like craft beer. It is called "people that really don't like beer".
- The stadium does need a basic cleaning. We need to push out and have more understand room, put in TVs, and gut and redo the restrooms. Personally I think the concessions are OK, its 3 1/2 hours. I don't come there to eat a meal.
What does pass outs have to do with that? Fire Marshall could give a rats ass about our ticketing policy.

Funny how we told those displaced by the new ticket policy to suck it up and stop whining - it's what's best for Marshall.
To those whining they can't go out at halftime - I say the same thing.
Tailgate before, have a beer or two during the game and tailgate after. No big deal.
Sell beer and no pass outs. Get butts in seats!
The reason is simple. If you want to drink beer, then you MUST buy their $7 beer and not our beer in the lots.Without using some reasoning like "You come to the game to watch marshall, and shouldn't leave at half because a true Herd fan wouldn't.." (Not saying this is you)
Please explain to me the benefits to the program of a no Pass Outs policy, and why it would be vital to the implementation of beer sales?
Legitimate question. There may very well be a compelling reason, I just haven't heard one yet.
The last I heard was wvu beer sales amounted to about $200k added revenue. Not much for a stadium that sells 2-3 times more tickets than we do.Beer, beer, beer... We need to have a fiscal note done to see what the potential revenue from beers sales would be? And if this measure fails... Then those who are so strongly opposed to beer sales should be hit with a surcharge to help cover the cost of the lost revenue...
