Big 12 will NOT expand. No school received enough votes.

I'm tired of people trying to prop up Charlotte and ODU. Potential gets thrown out of the door when we have to watch schools like Appy and Georgia Southern beat the piss out of them.

And if you think a sold out 20k stadium is impressive then don't complain when we only have 24k for a game. There is no waiting list for ODU games when you can buy tickets for their games on Stubhub for $10.

Those 2 schools once again have no business in CUSA. They are Sun Belt level schools with Sun Belt level support and Sun Belt level aspirations.

Maybe (especially Charlotte). But if ODU doesn't belong then neither does FIU, UNT or UTSA. FAU hasn't exactly torn it up in anything since coming over, either.

UTSA has proven they can get 55k and sell out the Alamodome. And if the SBC center was closer they would be playing their basketball games there. And they have routinely averages 25k+ since they moved to CUSA.

And I agree with FIU, they don't even need an entire Athletic department. They just need to focus on Academics. Obviously they will have 50k students if they played sports or not. It's not like they support anyway.

UNT has entire new leadership that gets it when it comes to Athletics, so it's a wait and see if they can turn themselves around.

UTSA has proven they can get 55k and sell out the Alamodome outside of their inaugural game 5 years ago?

When have they ever gotten 55k or sold out the Alamodome? IN Fact, their attendance has been so subpar they closed the entire upper deck of the Alamadome:

And if the SBC center was closer they would be playing their basketball games there.

But they're not. UTSA's basketball gym is the single worst facility in all of C-USA in either of the big two sports.

And they have routinely averages 25k+ since they moved to CUSA.

They averaged 23k last year.

So far this year they're averaging 23,700 - which includes 30K for Arizona State. Against Southern Miss they had 19k people in attendance.

I bet 3/4th's of the country doesn't even realize those schools are FBS...
Spot on, at least the MAC has been around long enough that people do realize they are 1a. Even if it doesn't help their perception that much.

To reply to the rest of the posts regarding CUSA schools, look guys, none of the new additions outside of LT are up to former CUSA quality............none. Every damn one of them belong in the belt or back to 1AA, and hell even NAIA. The F_U's are a lost cause, it wouldn't matter if they were in the ACC, their attendance would still amount to 5 people in the stands. You have to remember something when talking about who we should have added as well. We took two FCS schools, yeah they should have been Appy and GSouthern, but regardless it was still going to be two FCS schools (ODU, UNCC). Bad decision? definitely. Two, the only belt programs we took that were worth anything on the field or court was MTSU and WKU, and they both suck balls too with football attendance. If CUSA was smart, they wouldn't have added UTSA, UNT, the F_U's (or just one of them). I mean we got raped as a conference, replacements had to be made for our existing 5, my only peeve is that we did not take the schools that do well in attendance and on the field... Ark St. and ULL should have been looked at more

What UTSA has proven to me is that they are in a big prosperous growing city where most everybody moved there from somewhere else with a huge Air Force base where, obviously, everybody is from somewhere else, and it can play a couple of home games per year where most of the seats are displaced alumni and fans of the visiting team and then tarp off the upper deck for the rest of the schedule. Not unique, same basic strategy as Rutgers, Temple, Memphis, several others. Looks like FIU is heading that way. UNCC should. And they have free use of a huge stadium and 26K students paying athletic fees. Nice $$, but at the end of the day what recruit with a choice really wants to play 12 de facto away games a year?

That is the issue with these "potential" schools. Lots of students, but they self-selected to go there because they don't follow sports. In big cities, but everybody in town is following other schools and/or the 100 other things to do that are in big cities every day.

And basketball. Half of this league plays in gyms.

my wife follows football like i follow Grey's Anatomy. she asks me how we did and catches bits of some of the games. we met at Marshall during the Pennington days. she can still name just about every team in the MAC. she couldn't name 3 schools in CUSA today...

That's pretty sad considering we have been in CUSA longer than we was in the MAC.

No one hates ODU. Just seems like some of our fans love them more than MU. Touting how they and Charlotte have so much potential and will pull this league up to elite G5 status. BS! Neither have done crap in football and Charlotte should never have entered D1 football. Hell, if we only had a 21K seat stadium we'd have sold it out for the last 20 years or so; especially in an area as large as the Tidewater area is.

I definitely don't love ODU or even like them, hell I was cheering against them when they played NC State. I am familiar with the program however due to previously living in Norfolk (Ghent) and having friends who are season ticket holders. The entire reason I even defend them is I do think there is a group on here whose preconceived notions about their program that clouds the reality. They are investing in their program and have strong local support and should not be lumped in with the Florida schools, Charlotte etc.... Not sure who the folks are who think they or Charlotte will make us elite, never seen those posts other than people here claiming someone said it (to be fair I don't bother with other teams or the CUSA boards). I don't think they will be elite, but ODU is trending towards being a nice complimentary program to the competitiveness of the top of the league which is desperately needed.

The demand in Hampton Roads is there and like I said I fully expect them to be drawing what we and Southern Miss do when the stadium expands. But, feel free to keep thinking the are barely filling their stadium, and are a crap program.

Ok, I give up, ODU is a $h!t school with a crap football program and no fans. Even though they have better funding, a stronger top to bottom athletic department, nicer campus are currently ahead of us in the standings and may very well beat us this season does not matter. The real folks in the know have never been to one of their games, been to their campus, but have seen photos on the internet, looked at stub hub and "just know they don't belong". Man the glass house living, holier than thou kool aid drinking in this place is incredible sometimes.

Here's what "upside" is all about - check out the video below, then compare it to what FIU is doing 14 years later.

Thank goodness we are stomping this crap ODU team in front of an empty stadium......

LOL

That was funny to bump this thread.

Most posters on this board don't seem to follow football.

If so they wouldn't spout the crap they spout.

In truth this team has been mediocre at best over the past few years - and if it wasn't for a down conference it would have been obvious.

Now we are lacking in talent and all of a sudden we are bad and all these other teams are good??

No

Most of us that watch and follow knew this could happen.

Only reason I bumped it was because how some here just refuse to see the reality of things. I hate that we suck right now, but had to remind some people who said I was wrong.
