Biggs offer pulled

Also he had his chance to sign back in Dec and opted not to. Sometimes waiting around isn't smart. Especially if Marshall was where he wanted to go.

It really does look like he's just a numbers victim. This 2020 season mulligan is going to be causing issues like this all over the country. Sure you may be able to carry X amount over the 85 limit, but not all schools can afford those additional scholarships.

Yes I agree but the way huff handled this is the problem he got a call from a guy that is not on the staff anymore and said they taking a WR and they wouldn’t have room. Do you want to come to Bowling Green. Not to mention our staff didn’t get a heads up from Marshall.

So we aren’t signing anybody?

We really can't. I don't know why we are all setting ourselves up for disappointment come NSD. Might we sneak in a couple. Maybe, but not what we think. We were already over and Doc was planning on taking an extremely small class. Usually you have 20+ players leave every season. Because of the 2020 season mulligan we to this point have only lost 4 maybe 5 players.

Knox, Madden, Hodge, and Ball have all declared. At least I believe that Madden has. I believe McClain-Sapp is leaving too. So there is five.

Then we had Eli Sammons announce a couple weeks before the end of the season that he was transferring and Derek Pitts transferred to NCST. That's it.

We also have 8 NQs that are sitting out and could all be eligible to join the team after the Spring.

So we already had 10 players singed for the 2021, have a possibility of 8 NQs coming in from the 2020 class. So that is 18 players possibly to be added and to date we've only lost 6 players from the 2020 roster.

This 2020 mulligan while well intentioned is causing a mess. Even if they allow for an overage the university is still going to have to weigh the benefit vs the added expense of carrying more than 85 scholarships. We're not only talking football either. MBB and WBB are in the same boat. This is a mess.

Um so I think this is an interesting tidbit. Did Huff prompt this call or was this an outgoing staff member who is landing at bowling green trying to poach a recruit ?

I think it's worth the expense for one year.

It was coach trying to capitalize for his upcoming job.

If true I am disappointed to say the least. Taking a hometown kid who is good enough to play and pulling his scholly is a bad move. And then we bitch that we can't keep any of the locals.

You think it only lasts one season? They just didn't grant this to seniors. This is to every player on every fall roster. This will be a domino effect for several years. This is going to hurt high school players the worse because there aren't going to be as many spots open up. As much as I love the thought of Grant Wells being out there for 5 seasons it really should have only been given to seniors because you just restarted everyone's eligibility and set attrition back a season.

There's also going to be a lot more scrutiny paid by coaches to the ends of their rosters. Some of these players that spend their scholarships as practice squad players will probably be cut to make room for new players.

It just isn't sustainable.

Remember: He can't wait to get Biggs and Bryan on campus!

I think he is just trying to win the heart and minds of the parents to get the ticket sales up!

So then do we know for sure that the offer was officially “pulled”?

And to be clear, I have no problem with an outgoing coach making that call. That’s part of it. But I’m failing to see where the offer was pulled ?

Understood. But it could work out well in for FCS schools. Those bottom of the roster guys being cut to make way for new kids may end up going down a level. And a few might even develop enough to make cutting them look like a bad move.

I'm not sure of the math but I was thinking going over 85 isn't bad for a year only. I'm not sure how that stacks up going down the road but I see what you mean.

That being said, I'm not going to be negative to Huff over this. If he is going to replace them with 3 and 4 star kids that bigger schools were chasing then I can see the logic here.

wow big mistake if we pull his scholarship

Ok correct me if I’m wrong but it sounds like to me an outgoing coach who landed at bowling green made the call and said “Hey MU just picked up a receiver, they’re going to be full. Come to BG.”

Which, again, that’s part of it I’m fine with that. But I can’t Reconcile OP stating the offer was pulled , then said Biggs was informed the offer was pulled by a no longer member of the coaching staff? Who coincidentally invited Biggs to follow the coach to BG.?

Something isn’t adding up.

Yes, but the real victim are the bottom level HS kids. As the bottom of the FBS becomes the top of the FCS then the bottom of the FCS becomes the top of D-II and so on. To the point those players at the very bottom are not pushed out all together.

Again well intentioned, but not greatly executed. It should have been limited to 2020 seniors. Also when the rule was announced half of college football wasn't playing that's why they said all players. Once the rest of the FBS joined the show in late october and early november the rule, at least for the FBS, should have been amended.
The FCS is a whole other animal because most of that level didn't play.

They pulled Biggs offer via email. Coach didn’t even call the kid to tell him why. Pretty unprofessional.

One his coaches is in a relationship with my daughter. Texted me about 30 minutes ago.

Well one of his coaches is OP of this thread and said he was informed by an outgoing coach. Said nothing about an email.

One of the coaches is incorrect, or Capt left that info out.

Why would a former coach pull the offer? They don’t have that authority.
Just found out Cramsey was the one that emailed him.

I agree. And I’ve been asking Capt questions along those lines to see if he could clear it up.

These stories do take on a life of their own. He was called not emailed. Here is a direct quote from the Herald Diapatch - “He (Cramsey) called me back and told me that unfortunately, they weren't going to have a spot for me to sign in February.”

Grants article also states that the offer was for a blue shirt. Which Biggs reached out to Cramsey to confirm.

So Huff changed or pulled nothing for Biggs, Biggs just decided to pursue other opportunities which is his right.

Just wanted to make that clear. Huff did nothing here that was a “bad look”. Biggs basically did exactly what he said, which was de-committed.

The bad look is supposed SV coaches claiming the offer was pulled.
