Blago: Thanks Mr. President for Draining the Swamp....

Question 1 - yes. Also, it's a shot at Comey because he and Blago's prosecutor were friends. In addition, Blago's bride frequents the Presidential News Network

Question 2 - Negative PR? There's absolutely NOTHING he could do that would perceived as "negative" by you or the rest of the collective, and he doesn't care what the rest of us think.
It wouldn’t make any difference what he did or who he pardoned I’m sure you could find something to whine about.

Oh ok. I think you are reaching.

frankly, i think trump supporters tend to look over the stupid shit he pulls because of how divisive the left has made his presidency. zero support even when he does something good. they've done nothing but cry like bitches and attempt to get rid of him since the election. they've only made the support of those who support him stronger and blind to his errs, and have pushed many who were on the fence to his fold. and, for that, i say keep crying, the support of him will only get stronger.

Wow, our boy Pilate was kinda crazy there, crucifying that Jesus. But did you see his mom, disciples, and followers crying? Haha, go Pilate! MAKE JERUSALEM GREAT AGAIN.

You probably need to take that mask off for a while, Judging by your post your brain is not getting enough oxygen. Durham knows!

I may have a little different perspective than most here. As a IL resident - a blue state where corruption is from both parties (but mostly Dems) - we want these politicians punished.

Chicago's new mayor is a former federal persecutor.

Blago is a Democrat. At the protest and direction of the people, a democratic-led house impeached him, the democratic Senate convicted him, and he was removed from office. Take a look at what IL media is saying....not many are taking Herdman's position...."that mean old judge gave poor, poor Blago too harsh a sentence."

My religious views are a little fvcked, growing up in a prototype mega-church did that. I remember the day the "church" "gave" all the head ministers a new Cadillac. Of course, I don't recall a vote being held among the members, no one gave them shit but themselves.

This is almost up there with Clinton pardoning Marc Rich. Almost. But that is in a straight up "WTF are you doing, that guy is a dirt-bag" way. What is interesting is Trump let Blago out when Blago did a minor-league version of what Trump does.
You guys are hilarious. Blago held up a US Sentate seat. Trump, who was never charged with a crime or remotely close to a crime, told a Ukranian leader to look at something and was brought about on impeachment charges because of someone thought they heard something during a phone call that they didn't really hear.

So, If I say that SOB black guy down the street who sold some weed and a small amount of crack to an undercover cop needs to be in jail for 75 years are you ok with that?

Sometimes, like it or not, we don't get mob rule.

No you don't. otherwise Illinois wouldn't continue to elect the corruption.
Have lived all over...we love it here - the people, entertainment, opportunities. Hell, even the services are top shelf. The town I live in has been rated by more than one publication as one of the top communities to live in the US. But the politics and taxes are running everyone off.

damn, "head ministers". wow. we had one. he was given a fairly decent house to live in and paid a decent salary, nothing extravagant. was a great guy and could hit a softball and damn mile.

Wow...convicted by jury of his peers - removed from office by this own political party... that's "mob rule"? Pretty incredible where you're willing to go to support an Orange Jesus decision.

As mentioned in several other posts in this thread..... attempting to "quid pro quo" the Senate seat was only one of the crimes he was convicted of.

I am talking about when you said the citizens of Illinois wanted the book thrown at him and such. He served 8 years of a 14 year sentence and the POTUS granted him clemency. The mob would have likely hung him from a tree.

One side of me says he should have been in there for 14 years. The other side says well, what difference does it make? 14 years is damn long time for that. There is such a thing as showing mercy.

This church had like 3000 members. So we had the head minister, the top associate minister, a music minister, and the head outreach minister. They all also got nice houses built for them on the church property and lived there rent free.

And it's not like they were bad people per se (and the music director had a doctorate and was extremely talented, the church had a hell of a music program), but I don't think that is right. Hell, if they had been given Chevy's it probably wouldn't have stuck in my craw all these years. New Caddies? I'm sure if furrin' cars were more acceptable back then they would have got Benzes. You can't be rolling in German or Jap cars when there are lots of folks in the congregation that fought in WWII lol.

Ukraine got their money by the way. Cmon. Trump also sets the US Foreigh policy.

Yeah, after everyone found out they were being held up.

Your last sentence is absolutely stupid. In the most immediate manner, Congress passed this thing called a law (that's what they do, you know), and that law said why the money could be withheld, how to determine that, and who determined it. Agreement was made the conditions were met. In a broad manner, can you imagine if FDR decided to side with the Japs? After all, POTUS sets foreign policy. Can you imagine if Obama decided to join with the ragheads and give them the green light to attack Israel? You would have been in line to shoot him.

If the Founding Fathers were around, first they would be pissed we are involved in all this foreign shit, and second they would hang Trump from whatever tree is nearest the Oval Office. He's a goddamn traitor, and so are you for supporting him.

You're pitiful. High crimes and misdemeanors are not the same thing for public officials as you pretend it is for others.
We were talking legal crimes, dumb head. Blago committed legal crimes and went to jail.

Whatever, Raoul. They would throw every POTUS in jail if they followed what the Dems tried to do with Trump.

Really? So he grants clemmency to a Democrat gov who most people hadn't though of in nearly a decade to show thest types of quid pro quo are not a big deal?

Are you serious? If anything this was a negative PR hit for him.
His name came up a couple of years ago when word first came out that Trump was on the verge of pardoning him/commuting his sentence. Fortunately at the time he listened to his advisers when they said no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Abuse of power and obstruction of House impeachment inquiry.

acquitted forever

Name another POTUS that did what Trump did: demand a foreign head of state be involved in propaganda in our elections in exchange for American aid.
OH yehhh it was all about the election ? Sure. Look into this Biden thing. You think Biden was exempt because he was a candidate? Good Lord, his family was getting thier pockets lined.
