My dad was a Navy corpsman in WWII. Always been intrigued by the Miracle at Midway and the overwhelming odds the USN faced in the Pacific during the early days of the war.

The USS Enterprise at one time was the only operational US carrier in the Pacific but continued taking the fight to the Japanese holding them at bay until the Essex class carriers showed up. Probably the greatest US warship ever. Eight battles stars in 1942 alone.

I can think of no thread where the contrast is greater - I am paying homage to the brave and intrepid men who fought, and won, against tremendous odds when a spandex wearing soy boy appears quoting Hillary Clinton...
