It takes at least a week to put these games together. Right, RhinoD?

In this precise instance, BYU would literally take Liberty’s place. They would take the hotel reservations and meal plans that Liberty had. The only difference is BYU would be the team on the opposite sideline, not Liberty.

ESPN is heavily involved and CC doesn’t want to lose the GameDay exposure. So they’ll take this game and we’ll see who is better when two teams have minimal preparations for each other.

I don’t think it will end well for Coastal, but that teal turf could give BYU more fits than the Boise blue did.

This is exactly correct... Also, BYU and Coastal have been working on this for several days as a contingency plan... They already have the agreements and contracts drawn up, accommodations in place, etc. If they end up not needing them, then they just throw them in the shredder. Also, as Pioneer said, TV is already set because ESPN is on its way to Conway sometime today I would imagine.

There was no reason another team couldn’t have taken the place of one of our cancelled games. The reservations were already booked. The meal plans were already set. It could have been done if admin wanted it to be done

Difference was, all of our games ppd/canceled during the season (read: game week) have been conference games. Our non-con opponents (EKU, Appy, UMass) all played without delay.

I don’t think this ends well for Coastal this weekend. They win, and they still need Cincy to lose to get the G5 spot in the NY6. They lose and they’re out of contention for it.

BYU’s O-Line is going to be interesting to watch. I strongly feel we will play Coastal in the bowl game, no matter what.

I swear, why does this have to turn into a Hamrick or Doc bashing fest? Wasn't that long ago we were begging for the products they are producing. How do we know if BYU was receptive to us or had sent overtures themselves? If I was BYU, would I want to play Marshall? I would have studied the schools that were receptive and made an educated decision of what was best for my program, in their case. I would have chosen to play CCU over us, we have a little bit tougher all around squad. How do we know UNC was receptive? From all indications they were only receptive if they didn't have to spend a dime. Put this to bed already. Just because we are "marshall" doesn't mean the everyone out there is chomping at the bit to play us. Historically we have had problems trying to find schools to even give us a fair shake in scheduling. If UNC said yes, but only at our place and we aren't giving you anything for a 1 and done, Hamrick is right to have said no thanks, that doesn't pay the bills. If BYU said yes, you come to Provo, we will talk later about a series, but not right now, then Hamrick again is right to say no. Marshall can't simply just accept anything that gets thrown at it. We don't have the resources to absorb it. Bottom line. BYU, UNC etc can afford it, Coastal is in a nice location compared to us, BYU can use it as a recruiting trip. Those aren't thoughts, they are reality.

Because some people still think Hamrick doesn't try hard enough on schedules. Which is a complete farce. Look at the teams that he has gotten to come to Huntington and what was supposed to happen this season. Now look at the teams that have visited Huntington prior to Hamrick. The man has his faults, but scheduling isn't one of them.

Also Hamrick doesn't have ESPN pulling the strings for him.

Hamrick has done a good job scheduling in the past, and has been able to adapt on his feet during a season that no one had any idea would even be played... CUSA hasn't done us any favors, but by now, we should no better than to expect any. Getting EKU to take a game on two weeks notice, and getting App State to agree come here, were not easy things to do and MH got them done.

And at the end of the day, we are in the best possible position we could be in given the landscape of the season. Win the next two and play for the conference championship and an undefeated season. People act like playing BYU would somehow vault us into the national consciousness – It wouldn't. A win over BYU instead of UMass and we are around 19 in the playoff rankings instead of 21. A loss to BYU instead of UMass and we aren't ranked at all.

The league rescheduled league games. In fact Sunday we could see the FIU game scratched in order to set up a winner take all division championship with Charlotte at the Joan on the 11th.
The league had no authentication to schedule non conference games.

Im aware the league doesn't schedule nonconference games... The league not being well enough prepared for cancellations is why we now only have two weeks to play three CUSA makeup games.

It would have been a bit more consequential than that.

A win over BYU instead of UMass and we’re the next team in line for the NY6 bid should Cincy lose the AAC championship game.
