C-USA spring meetings likely to be quiet

MURFREESBORO – Conference USA didn’t resolve any of the major issues facing the league during its winter meetings in January.

As the league prepares for its spring meetings that start Monday in Destin, Fla., it’s unlikely C-USA will resolve any of those major issues this week either.

“I doubt we’ll make a lot of news,” MTSU Director of Athletics Chris Massaro said. “We’ve got several things on our agenda that we will discuss but I don’t know that any of them will really be news makers.”

One major issue facing the conference is what to do with Alabama-Birmingham since the university dropped its football program in December of 2014. League bylaws state that all league members must have — or be building to — a Football Bowl Subdivision program...

UAB shouldn't be allowed in the conference and an ultimatum to decide who the next to be kicked out to balance the league, should be made...based on attendance of games as a major factor.
Seriously, the league is hurting itself because of the lack of fan support. I know the games are spread out from VA to Texas, but honestly, it's pitiful for home games for several.

I think some programs need to be woken up from the dream of being able to make it. The bare minimum is being done to stay afloat, but that's it. Even Marshall, should double their efforts in some areas too.
 
You don't just kick out a member like that, especially since they've just paid a substantial buy in.

If UAB is given the boot, USA will likely be brought in to fill the void.
