Yeah, you're right. If we want to help the poor pay for cell phone service, I suggest we cut taxes for the wealthy cell phone text users, and then let phone service trickle down.

You realize that you pay a tax/fee on your cell phone service, right? This is no different. You don't get taxed per phone call. Likewise, the proposal isn't to tax you per text message.

Look at your cell phone bill. You'll see the cell phone charge, the text message charge, the data charge, etc. based on your package. Then, you'll also see a 911 fee, a regulatory fee, a state and/or local fee, and the state/federal tax. This would simply be an additional $.07 or whatever as a state/local fee.

I didn't realize cell phones had become a right guaranteed by the government.
